Anyone else watch it.. am guessing yes..

My biggest gripe is that they wave the british union flag and are too stupid to realise the people they are hurling abuse at ... are british.... Do they not realise that anyone living in the country for x yrs can apply for a passport and they then become a british citizen.. so when they are shouting britain for the british and houses for the british and all the rest.. they are actually supporting the people they want out....

I am quite happy to be english.. I feel privaliged to be english.... But I do I believe in one race one planet one life... i just think racists are a bit thick thats all :)
 
I've not seen it yet but have it recorded. I said to a mate I thought it would show any 'Patriots' as a bunch of thick louts. No surprise there. This was never going to be anything other than negative. That said I'll wait til I've seen it before I comment further.
 
I think Russell Howard summed it up well when he said he got a death threat from someone in the EDL that went "I'm going to rape you, I'm going to kill you, then I'm going to berry" you....... :lol:

He also pointed out to the EDL that St. George was from Palistine, only to get the reply "Yeah, but he slayed a dragon" :banana:

So the general concensus of the EDL is if your foreign, you can come to the UK as long as you've headbutted a Unicorn :lol:
 
I guess some of them have 'some' valid points, but they cannot articulate them well.

There is a massive argument at the moment to 'understand' and get to the bottom of why young people are moved in terrorism etc etc. Well I think we must try and 'understand' why these gentlemen act the way they do.

A thread about people who on the balance seem less than intelligent when compared to yourselves and others you associate with. Illusory superiority? maybe, I have only seen a little of the programme, but it was always going to be predictable on how the participants were going to be portrayed.

I couldn't agree more! I didn't see the programme and I doubt if I'd agree with many of their ideas and I'd undoubtedly think them very dim and very nasty but I despise them less than I despise the lazy film makers who patronisingly dismiss them as Angry and Thick. I'd suggest the makers are equally prejudiced and closed minded and go for easy money from similarly minded producers, but set themselves up as different and superior. And their lazy product only polarises positions; it doesn't help seek any points of agreement, points of departure, or points for discussion, education and improvement.

No bigot will abandon his bigotry because self-appointed trendy media people tell him he's wrong - we're seeing something similar on a different scale of prejudice with the supporters of UKIP's resistance to journalists' and comedians' attacks

I feel excluded by them, even though I'm white, thick and have short hair.
Their name says it all really, ENGLISH Defence League - what about the poor excluded Welshmen like me?

That was a long time ago, when you lot saddled us with an English prince to rule over us.
The irony here was that the Welsh hadn't kicked English arses since about 1400 and had pretty well become absorbed until Charlie boy came along, this led to a resurgence of nationalism and a dramatic growth in the number of Welsh speakers:)

Burning holiday homes was really more about the fact that the existence of holiday homes artificially inflated house prices, putting them well beyond the reach of local people, than about the fact that most of the buyers were English.

I fear that's always been a specious argument from rural communities. Who sold those houses to incomers at "artificially inflated" prices and received the money? Were they the wrong sort of local people?

thats because you lost ;) - Doesnt the welsh term for England "Loegyr" actually translate as 'the lost lands' in Celtic

We didn't lose, we fought the English off our land and drove them back to Hereford, at which point we decided that as we weren't land grabbing bastards we would just go back home for tea.

The English learn slowly, and attacked again in 1461, which resulted in the longest ever siege, 7 years, of Harlech Castle.

yes but prior to the saxon invasion the whole lot was yours - the last time the celts kicked saxon arse was at mynyd badon in 480 AD - after that it was all one way traffic.

Also if you didnt lose how come wales isnt an independent country ?

People like to portray British born and bred patriots as bufoons and people take pride in their countrymen being mocked in this way. At least these people give a crap about the country they are from.

Someone drives a van and has a union jack outside their house, whats wrong with someone being proud to be British and drive a van as they are gainfully employed. People try to make out these people are bad, when they are anything but.

If we had a bit more national pride, the way the Americans, the French etc do, we'd be a better nation.

the problem isnt driving a van or flying the national flag - the problenm is being thicker than a whale omlette and expressing ignorant ill thought out veiws whilst doing it

What, like having national pride and wanting your countries government to cater for the needs of your own people rather than foreigners?

To me, not wanting this is an ill thought out view. Not all the preachy gospel stuff you read in the Gaurdian needs taken as fact.

Expressed like that no, but then I'd guess that you are a relatively educated guy

expresed as " its like y' know the muslims and darkies an' 'at , we should send 'em all back where they came from innit " then yes - as the tittle says white, angry and thick - its the third part thats the real issue.

Like for example the guy I caught drawing a swazstika on the peace pagoda in milton keynes just after 7/7 - asked what he thought he was doing he responded that " all these muslims should just f*** off out of our country" ... when it was pointed out that the peace pagoda is a budhist shrine (maintained by a sect of monks from japan) he said " yeerbut Budhists are a sort of muslim innit, dun you know nuthin" ... theres little point in arguing withthat level of ignorance... in fact its a wonder he can tie his shoelaces without falling over, or work out how to get the cap off his marker pen

Who are 'my governments own people'?
Does it include the Anglo Saxons (being of Celtic origin I'm not sure whether I'm comfortable with that), just people who can trace their families back pre 1900 in the UK? 1950? any 2nd generation? anyone from the colonies? anyone that's returning after their families had moved abroad? Am I overcomplicating it?
 
yeah but you don't go round writing neo nazi grafiti on their shrines with "muslims out" (at least I hope not)

Also in plymouth today I noticed the inspired grafitti "Muslins out" - I'm guessing that they feel strongly that the WI should only use gauze to filter when making jam ;)

British born works for me.
 
There is not now or never has been such a thing as a pure British person. People have been moving around since people have existed. We are all a mix of races.

Someone I know was part of a pro English FaceBook group called The Saxon Party. I asked him where he thought Saxons came from.
