Angry people? Angry forums? Angry world?

I have that same rule - and yes I can be nasty sometimes, but I try not to be...

As can I - I lose control extremely easily on the Internet or in real life. I'm not really any different on the internet than I am in real life but I think my lesser qualities show through much easier and much quicker on the internet.

It is quite easy to get wound up on forums, particularly when people are doing it intentionally. Like the time someone on here insinuated that I'd happily break into a building to urbex despite explicitly saying I don't do that kinda stuff... say no more on the subject but if there's a way to get me riled, that's it
and I can say right now, Internet or not, I'd be going for said person's throat! :bonk:

I would like to think that people are on the level, but its difficult when your typing to get the correct expression and this can cause confusion and sometimes the wrong attitude is read out in form of text, i think what im trying to say i would hope that if we were all in one room there would be a lot less misunderstandings ??
just my thoughts :shrug::shrug:

That is true. It's hard to tell someone something on line as you can't use body language to reassure them that what you are saying is not a threat. It's much like eating - they say that 80% of taste is just looking at the food. And without seeing it there is very little taste.

Also the sheep are far prettier in Yorkshire :D

From where I'm standing, yes, I have to agree with you. I prefer black-face sheep myself.

I was in TESCO yesterday looking for this month's Geeks World, when I noticed that this month's Yoga magazine has an article on 'anger management'. :)

Om Shanti Om!

Same as people in cars shouting a swearing at someone if they were stood face to face they wouldnt say anything or would be far more diplomatic its that feeling of being untouchable that makes them very brave
Bob

I was going to mention this. I think it's just the distancing of people these days and lack of social interaction plus increased stress manifests itself in aggressive behaviour, whether on the internet or in cars. The internet and written word just gives more opportunity for misunderstanding & 'keyboard warrior' behaviour.

Riding a motorbike gives you the opportunity sometimes to speak to these people. I find a calm, rational manner gets more response than just copying their example and going off on one back at them.

Good points, thank you. I hear a lot about 'increased stress' these days. As I've been retired from work for ten years (left early) I have been rather out of it. And my wife and I are fairly isolated from things here. Is there that much of an increase in stress these days? What do others think? And is internet forum usage a way of letting off steam?

'Keyboard warrior' - I like that.

Can I have my avatar back? Been living it up here since 2006 with White hair...?!??!

'Not quite Spanish',

Oh dear... Oh dear me... Oh my... I know you won't believe this but I used the avatar on another forum for some time. I got it from an avatar site, and being a fan of Warhol decided to use it. Can you believe that? can we not live together in peace and harmony? Why is mine bigger than yours?

'Quite sexy'

Edit: Hey! My subtitle just changed.

Now you get the "clone of Diego" comment.. ;)

It's really annoying... I see the av... think it's Diego.. Then wonder why he's banging on about how bloody fantastic looking a certain sheep is... I double check.. and it's not Diego.. :bonk:

I’m so disillusioned, I thought that really was Diego’s picture. Is he really not Spanish?

I bet he does take any pictures and doesn’t live in Bristol either…

It's wierd. I always wonder how people percieve me on forums as opposed to the outside world. And vice versa, I always wonder do some people realise how much of a plank they look and sound like on a forum when they get aggressive or act a little rude. Like for example, you see a post about x/y/z and first reply is *YAWN* or *POPCORN*. I can only imagine being in a pub and someone says "What's the deal with the cost of wedding photographers" and 3 people around the table take out a bag of popcorn and start eating it, 2 start yawning excessively, while the remaining few stand up and start having a full blown row with each other about why you should use a canon instead of a nikon. All I know is I feel sorry for the poor loner in the corner with the sony. Oh why won't somebody just talk to him! He looks like a nice guy! but we all know.. he's really the evil one who planted all the controversy... the *******....
well it made me laugh

:lol::lol::lol:

Well I've been in Spanish?!?! Does that count. It were a fine holiday fling....

Mate.. I never know who you are as you keep changing face.. Avv... Weren't you the donkey?

Nope, I do believe that was smoothedit. Then he got the "eyeore" name or something for a while... then a few more, can't quite remember. Anyway, what would you remember me for... erm... amm... just generally being a daft gob*****??

I don't know which of us should be more worried -

1. You because others might think that something you said is me saying it, not you.

2. Me, because others might think that something I said was said by you, not me.

3. All of the others, because they won't know what either of us said.

Took me a long time to get that right, and even then it might have been you that said it.:)

I think a big factor with internet disscutions is some people are actualy exhausted and need to go to there beds.but instead stay up on the computer and then they get emotional.

Stuart

is that what Warhol looks like

I really ought to look past the work sometimes when I go pic hunting

Yes but he's a long time dead. A small gargoyle fell from a building in Kettering and killed him outright. Shame.
