As a kid I fished off the harbour arm at Newhaven occasionally. When the tide was in there was a 10+ft drop to deep water and several hundred yards to the shore and when the tide was out there was a 20+ft drop to rocks. Granted the top of the harbour arm was wider than that, but a slip is a slip.
