Android windows or apple

All browsers continually have vulnerabilities found and patched. This is normal, and happens on iPhones, Android, Windows Phone, Blackberry, etc. There was a similarly serious one in Safari a few weeks back.

If you want safest, I would stick with the walled-garden ecosystems with stringent security checks on apps...i.e. iPhone or Windows Phone.

A large number believed open source = safe as there is no evil company behind it. The heartbleed issue proved that this isn't the case, they are all as bad as each other.

I personally believe a security issue with iOS will be the quickest to deal with as updates come straight form Apple and all is simple. Android would/could be a nightmare if the issue is in the OS as the OS has do be modified for each type of phone and then the carriers have to update with all their stuff. They will also only do this for certain devices.

I have no idea how this works on Windows Phone. I believe Windows Phone is closer to iOS, but I am not sure. I think the carriers don't get involved but the manufacturers may cause an issue.

Microsoft have actually quite neatly stepped round the carrier updates problem by allowing anyone to join the Developer Program and get standard updates as soon as they are availabale.

Not had any problems with my WinPhone in terms of stability or security. My only minor gripe is the lack of some apps, although there are plenty available to do most things I want/need.
