Android to Iphone, Anyone Done It?

I currently have a Samsung Galaxy S2 which is due an upgrade soon. I was patiently waiting on the S4 announcement to see what it would bring as well as looking at the alternative options on Android at the minute, namely the HTC One and Sony Experia Z. The thing that is putting me off all of those options is the size of the handsets. When I got the S2 I thought that was big but the three phones mentioned are all even larger!

I'm now considering switching to an Iphone but would like to hear from anyone who has done this before. Are there any particular issues I should be aware of? I'm fairly well invested in Google just now so would Gmail, contacts (all of my contacts are in Google!) and google calerdar sync on an Iphone?

I've been an android man since eclair and loved it. I got an iPad in August and I do find my galaxy nexus to be unresponsive sometimes and sluggish. I also find the design and usability of various apps including googles own to odd and lack consistency. I loved my Asus Transformer until I got the iPad. The asus is better, but the App Store, ipad apps and speed of the OS make the iPad so much better.

My wife has an iPhone 5 and I prefer the camera, easier to use. But at a cost. Smaller screen and a limited mail app. However so many more things are easier.
 
If you store all of your contacts, mail and calendar in Google you'll be just fine (Been using it since I got my first iPhone a few years back). There's also a Gmail app that, while it can't be set as the default mailto: app (that will stay as the normal mail app unless you feel like jailbreaking), works well. There's also plenty of third party mail apps, if neither of those suit your needs.
 
I'm very close to that.

I'll be soon left with my ancient HTC desire so the choice is mine again, I am just not keen on buying an outgoing iPhone model at full price, so would certainly wait until summer
 
I find the iPad is miles better than Galaxy Tab2
However I prefer my Android Samsung S3 to the iPhone lol

Thanks for that, it's good to know.

On my S2 at the minute I currently use the Gmail app for personal email and the stock email app is linked to the works exchange server for works email. It sounds as if I could do the same with an iphone.

Having had a quick look online it doesn't seem like it's going to be the big hassle I thought it was. :clap::clap:
 
I made the switch from Android to iphone just over a year ago and don't regret it. It was simple to get google calendar synced over and google contacts, although I have since switched contacts to iCloud which was easy. I continue to use Google Calendar as I've got multiple devices, Mac, IOS and PC devices using this and it was easier to keep it on Google.

I never used Gmail for important email anyway.

You can do that easily. You can also check gmail through the built in mail app, but for some reason that won't let you delete anything from gmail :cuckoo: iOS is full of little stupid things like that, but it looks like android is "catching up" really fast, so it won't be much different

You need to change the setting for "archive messages" to off in the mail settings and it will then delete as normal.

You don't see the irony of claiming iOS is "stupid like that" when talking about the inability of deleting e-mails from the phone if using a GMail account, when in fact the stupidity lies with the user for not looking beyond the end of his/her own nose, at the various options available to them?

The even greater irony is that Android, made by Google, doesn't even handle a GMail account sensibly, still in ICS.
And in order to effect the changes required, they're not within Settings, but via Mail's settings online!
 
I've been considering an iPhone as well to replace my HTC desire in June but at the moment at least an iPhone is out of my budget am paying 20 quid a month and if I got an iPhone the missus would want one too!
 
I got my wife the iPhone 5 as it cost the same as the latest top of the range android.
