Well there I was thinking I should be looking for a used R2D2 on the Bay  Ok I am soon to be purchasing a new AV Surround amp and there is an app available for it which can be used to control all settings, including music collections etc. The app is available for Iphone but also for Android users. The only advice they give is that it will only work with an Android OS 2.1 or later. Ok so without spending a huge wedge on one, does anybody have any advice on what I should go for. I should point out that a tablet would be fine for my use and not a phone.
Thanks

What about the google/asus nexus 7 tablet which is about £160 for the 8gb model. If you don't want to spend that much then the sumvision astro ebuyer sell for about £80 is pretty decent. Both are version 4.0 or 4.1 so there should be no compatibility issues.

I use Android phones / tablets to control my Onkyo kit over Wifi. I can now select any track / album from my server without moving my **** from the couch :D

I've got the TX-8050 using a wired connection to my network. I use wifi via the network just for controlling it :)

Is there anything else that would use the network. I have a media player, Xbox and DVD player so it was easier for me to get a wireless access point and have wired connections to it. Dual external antennas etc... So the signal strength is better which means a faster connection.

Hi Gareth, the PC is in the corner of the room and at the moment I have the Blueray,Freesat box hard wired into the network. Wireless connection is on for the wifes Ebook and the mobile phones.

If the screen quality for watching video is not an issue have a look at advent vega.

I have bought my second one and have installed Vegabean which is a version of jelly bean android v4 and and am very happy with the tablet. I bought my one last week for £80 and it is in a mint condition.
