android duplicate contact number

Recently when sending a text on android it states - contacts number (+1 more) multiple

When you click the contact, the phone number is duplicated - one with and one without a space.

What is going on and how can i fix this??

If you have duplicate listings for the same person in Google Contacts, you can merge them. You can't merge contacts that are saved in different Google Accounts. Merge duplicates O

There is nothing to fix in Google or Samsung Contacts. It seems to have something to do with WhatsApp. However why I have the problem in texts, I'm not sure
 
Just checked on my phone which is a Motorola and do not get this on the default text app or on what’s app.

Does it happen for all contacts or just some?
 
It only affects some contacts.
I have never had this before so it must be something to do with this crappy Samsung linking across the apps
 
And when you look at that contact under the Phones contacts, I presume you only see the one number?
 
Yes, only one contact. I have now unlinked one of the contacts. When i go into text message, there are three entires for the same person and I'm unable to relink

The text app I'm having trouble with appears to be a Google beta version?
As a result, Ive disabled it and am now using the Samsung app without issue.
