I constantly find myself perusing the market (sounds seedy
) looking for new stuff.
Last app I downloaded was "Studio Buddy" which lets you design/save and share lighting setup diagrams for photography.
Sundroid is another good app for checking sunrise/sunset times etc
For a laugh have a look at "Androidify"

Get "AppBrain Android Market" installed, makes it far easier to find new stuff to try out. 
The Desire's a cracking phone... I just have to wait until Nov before I can upgrade to whatever new HTC Android model's available then!
The missus has already claimed this one for when I'm done...

Luckily for me my Mrs isn't interested in phones (all technology actually!!).Still trying to figure out how to find and install apps

Bonus for you then, is once installed, you can use the website to install the apps for you. Just click "Install" alongside the ones you want, easy.

I have a Vodafone 845 and it has Android 2.1 on it (£70 on pay as you go) and its a brilliant little phone. No one can believe it has the latest android on it

Yes, search for "talk photography" and you'll spot it.
My phone's running 2.2 but, this isn't the latest. It's 2.3 (gingerbread)
Yeah there are updates but I heard most of the latest updates are just to add compatibility to touch devices
