ME!

I've been more than happy with my DIY usual #2 clippers haircut in the past.
I find that doing it every couple of weeks makes it easier as well.

I also use the clippers, no guard on the extended blade option, upside down as it were, to comb through my beard.
It makes a neat no fuss job.

Beard trimmed, on to the the hair, straight down the middle ...
Yep you guessed it, I forgot to put the bloody guard back on!
I had no option at this point, but to go for the "forp'ny all off" look!

Oh well, I guess it will grow back at some point.
Bloody donut :(

Does anyone else have any other lighthearted disasters that they are prepared to admit to?

Only a fortnight between a bad haircut and a better one!

First time this week got my missus to try it on me without the guard (unextended position)
Not bad at all, been ceiling painting with a roller so easier to wash paint off the pate

Descaled the steam wallpaper stripper, must have done too good a job
Steamed like the Flying Scotsmen for a few minutes then went with a bang and blue sparks, blew me off the low steps.

That's exactly how I ended up with a grade 0. The wife started cutting then I looked in the mirror and said 'er, did you forget something?'. It's what is referred to as a Magnus Magnusson. ;)

I did such a great job on doing my hair with the clippers first time round, I thought I`d get it charged up put on one of the guards on and trim my eye brows. I now look like a baby seal, totally forgot to put the guard on :banghead::banghead:

A family member decided to cut their three sons hair for them a couple of months ago. After the first one was cut the other two ran off and hid; they didn't think much of dads hair styling skills. Him being an ex Coldstream Guardsman I guess it was a bit short.......

Hmmm I think this may take more than a couple of weeks to get back to a #2 :D

This thread is useless without :snaphappy:

Ooops, but you're luckier than me, in one respect I have no one else to blame but me :D

Wasn't it a rather boggy field?

I hope so too :D

Was years ago. First time I used the Wahl clippers I'd bought from Argos (to try to at least end up with better haircuts than the godawful barbers seemed to manage). I learned.

Pics or it didn't happen! :p

I ordered what i thought were Head trimmers online about a month in, what arrived was beard trimmers ... d'oh! But I let the missus have a go at it anyway - also using a blunt old scissors - the result was a bit Peaky Blinders :ROFLMAO: She had another go the other week, definitely improved - this time she'd went and ordered a decent barber's scissor set - still used the beard trimmer back and sides, but a couple youtube vids later and she's learned to blend much better - will probably let her have a third go before the barber's re-open. I double check every time she puts it near my head that she has the right guard on!

LOL! I did the same thing a couple of months ago. I felt like a right numpty.

I was a bit too aggressive with the first stroke and cut my skin as well - I bled like a stuck pig although the cut itself was nothing.

Come what may...... ..........I am going to need to buy clippers  before lockdown I had a #1 cut all over, that being shorter cut than my usual ~ it now is in need of some attention!

Just not sure which make & model of clippers to buy??? Open to pointers, thank you :)

Wahl clippers are supposed to be decent enough and not expensive

Wahl. More expensive than other brands but when you get a chance, look at what most professionals use. Super taper is the model we have but it might be difficult finding them in stock anywhere at the moment because they're so popular. IIRC they're about £60 inc VAT - not cheap but they'll save their cost in not too long!

Yeah Ok it didn't happen :p

I'm glad its not just me then :D

Scalp and ears it always seems you are going bleed out, from the smallest of nicks eh?

Open to pointers, thank you
As others have said Wahl are generally accepted as the best home care set.
Although I see them in barbers too, but no doubt they are "professional grade"
And cost a lot more than 50 odd quid.

We want a photo!
You aint bloody getting one :p

I've progressed from a 2 to a 1, and now don't bother with a guard.
It does make drying your head a lot easier after a shower.

Its a tad chilly though :D
But yes its a lot easier to manage and wash / dry.

Thanks for the reminder pointers to Wahl and the Philips kit.

Will have to read up and see where, as appropriate, there is available stock???

I do the shortest setting it'll go on & have done for years so that would be normal for me. :ROFLMAO:

I have a set of these, and they were great as long as you use a guard.
Now I go for a zero with no guard, they don't glide well over my head.

So I've been using these, and they work great without the guard, and glide easily over my head .
Only niggle is that they're not cordless.

Well.......looks like the drought of hair clippers is still ongoing. having looked at Wahl, Remington, Phillips et al nada!

I bought a Wahl set on Ebay right at the start of the epidemic, thought I'd need them . . .
And I was right, well worth the £17 odd that they cost. The current price on Ebay is £99.99.

Yup, to use the Yank expression....there is some real price gouging happening! :(

Not quite as bad as Chris's close shave but hair related, albeit lower on the head...

Decided that a little trim of the beard was in order, just to keep it a little less scary now we're allowed to be seen a bit more so, being a lazy bat [PLEASE DON'T TRY TO BYPASS THE SWEAR FILTER], I grabbed the beard trimmer off the shelf rather than digging out the better tool. 15 minutes later, with the battery definitely on its way out, I gave up and dug the Wahls out and finished the job in 2 minutes, basically by going over the whole area again. I should really bin the trimmer thing (Remington, so not "cheap crap") but it's just about OK for doing the lip line between buzz cuts.
