A while back I asked advice on a car, 4x4....but now Mrs A who has been a busy bee during her school break, has came a cross a Madza 6 ts2.....and apparently fell in love with it.......Anyone on tp got any experience of this vehicle before I post with my cash......ps car is a 2005 with 74k miles......

Blimey, she changes her mind quick! (you sure YOU are safe? )

;)

Avoid!!! If it has the RF7J or RF5C Engine they are a time bomb. I currently have one that's had to have engine rebuild. They either have oil pumps fail resulting in engine wear/damage or the Turbos go and cause the engine to rev flat out running on the engine oil. The Garage that is rebuilding mine has seen another 2 with same problem in last 4-5 months. I had to get Crank Regrind, Oversized bearings, New Turbo, Gasket sets, plus hours of Labour. They also shoot oil down into DPF which is another expense. But you might be lucky. Try googling Mazda RF5C and Rf7J Problems.

Cheers mate for the heads up

Your Welcome. I'm a Motor Trader now but did start in the workshops so come across quite a few cars in my time. Give me a shout if you need any further info.

Cheers mate...will deff get back to you regarding the new edition to the family

And don't forget the rust
Indeed. When my bodyshop took Mazda's in we were doing nothing but replacing rotted panels on mazda 6's only 2years old. By replacing I actually mean replacing. New arches, wings, sills and doors...you name it. We eventually stopped taking them in because they were just filling up our schedule and couldn't get any other work done.

The good news is that I am not going for a madza.....the bad news is I am still hunting for the elusive car for Mrs A

What about a Saab 2005.........I know they are no longer on production but the one I seen tonight looks good and it is well priced

I'm biased so ...

I have owned 3 previous SAABs and currently own a 2002 95 Aero, no significant problems with any of them, and I have never put less than 150K on any either - however I believe there may be some "issues" with the 1.9 diesel engine, but all of mine have been and are petrol. Fwiw they have just about the strongest body build of any car, have a look at this ;) http://www.topgear.com/uk/videos/1664360802001

Im a Saab man too I have a 9.3 v6 aero convertible. Ive had less trouble with it over the 7 years i've had it from new than previous Mercs BMWs and Audis. Good Cars its a shame about Saabs demise - Parts are plentiful and theres still a good dealer network and yo'ull get a lot of car for your money. Incidentally they are the best seats you'll ever sit in. Highly recommended

Looks likes this well be the new car....2006 Saab 95 vector sport.....63k on the clock.

Now I just need to work out the warranty/service plan for the year:D

Might be worth reading this... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saab_9-5 And checking it has a FULL service history, although it sounds like post 2004s don't suffer like the earlier ones did.
