And now George Michael

There's still 6 days left!

He had pneumonia or something not long ago. I did wonder about him then.

Grim Reaper clearly couldn't have waited one sodding day so it wasn't Christmas either. Git.

Shocking news.

He was one of the singers who made the 80's.

RIP

That is shocking. Only 53 :( RIP George.

Blimey!

What a mad year this has been!

6 more days, what shocks are still in store until next Saturday?

The BBCs review of the year is going to be a long one isn't year with all the tributes they should do.

2016.... a [PLEASE DON'T TRY TO BYPASS THE SWEAR FILTER] of a year on the passing of another talented artiste.

George was a favorite singer of mine , Fantastic vocal ability , RIP George

Yes, woke up to it this morning on the news - very sad news indeed...

Another tragic loss of talent. What an awful year..

Time to remember what a great voice he had

I can't light no more of your darkness
All my pictures seem to fade to black and white
I'm growing tired and time stands still before me
Frozen here on the ladder of my life

It's much to late to save myself from falling
I took a chance and changed your way of fife
But you misread my meaning when i met you
Closed the door and left me blinded by the light

Don't let the sun go down on me
Although i search myself, it's always someone else i see
I'd just allow a fragment of your life to wander free
But losing everything is like the sun going down on me

I'll never forget his rendition of "Somebody to Love" at the Freddie Mercury tribute concert.
Superb.

There's a 90 year old woman in Norfolk who isn't in very good health at the moment...

;)
Gasp! Treason!
Her husband isn't exactly in his prime either...

I guess it was just his time to go go.

RIP

That 90 year old has a cold and missed the train so took helicopter instead! Probably an army or airforce one at tax payers expense
You do know that 90 year old pays 90% income tax.

Edit I should add for clarity, that she pays income tax voluntarily, receives only 15% of the income of the crown estate, giving the rest to HM treasury (over £200m a year), pays council tax on her 4 properties, and is audited by three different agencies every year KPMG, internal auditors, and the National Audit Office.

And does all this on significantly less than the budget of the poorest F1 team, whilst carrying out significant public duties.

Very sad - Not seen him in the public sphere / for some time.

It seems his heart just gave out. sad for his family that he should pass away on Christmas day too....RIP George.

“She felt much as I do, that we were living in a world that was gradually being drained of that.”

Talking about his Mum and the act of Compassion.

A warning has been given for this post
[Mod Edit] Not the place for it Bazza.
It may have been intended to be tongue in cheek, it may even be true but it's really not appropriate for this thread and has no bearing on the OP.

:( Well I found out today that my good friend since 2003 and drummer in our band passed away yesterday evening. Not feeling especially full of Christmas cheer at the moment.

2016 seems to have been particularly cruel to musicians

The more I see of GM the more I realise what a really good singer he was. Puts many of today's crowd to shame live. The live queen tribute is definitely worth a watch. The Red Nose Day car pool karaoke is also brilliant. One of the few people that covers other people's songs without making them cringeworthy too.

The first one, and inspiration for Corden's current run, I understand.

I'll be honest and say I wasn't a huge fan of his music and the 80's wasn't exactly my favourite era (even though I was a teenager at the time), but there's no denying that George Michael had earnt his iconic status and thus he will be missed.

I've been a life-long fan of The Beatles & John Lennon, I've been to the museum many times and seen the 'Imagine' piano with the sign on 'generously donated to the museum by an anonymous benefactor' - I never knew the was given by George Michael. There are some amazing stories being reported at the moment how he had helped people.

supremely talented singer/songwriter...i felt he was a decent human being too.RIP George
