.....Bloody Xmas food, drink and partying........I have put on a stone of weight since the start of December

You are not alone in the weight gain a little more than you however, I seem to love the wrong combinations of fat and sugar laden tasty morsels ....I am 3 days in to NO CARBS and NO SUGAR - I seem to be ok so far no shakes as yet........

Funny though as 3 days of No Bread has already made such a difference......

Like a fool, I left my annual diabetes nurse appointment too long and ended up with it being just after new year... Got the follow up tomorrow and am expecting to be gently admonished for gaining a pound or several! Just wish there was a good tasting food that wasn't full of calories and was filling.

I somehow managed to lose 2lbs between the 22nd December and the 5th January

Tummy bug? ;)

Why are some of the nicest things bad for you (calorie wise):

Cheese
Beer
Chocolate

Well I've managed to loose weight....well inches over Christmas even though I did have a slight break from my full diet to allow for a few treats over the three days of Christmas

I'm surprised they can tell. Whenever I have my appointments with the endo I always seem to be the only non-diabetes patient in the clinic but I get processed along with everyone else. I must weigh in a good 5 kilos heavier in winter than summer, but that's purely down to the weight of woolens and overcoat. You're always asked to put down your bag, but they just wave you off when you offer to remove your coat.

Well, when I say a pound or several, I mean a stone or 2! Of course, every time I'm weighed it's on a different set of scales so consistency is never going to be that good but even weighing myself here on the same scales each time, I can vary by 1/2 a stone over the course of a day...

When I was weighed a couple of weeks ago, I was fully dressed in jeans etc. and had a pocket full of change. To keep some consistency. I always weigh myself here after morning "ablutions" and as I was born (well, with my wedding ring on and earring in!)

The nurse did try and insist on taking my blood pressure last time, but as I'd cycled a couple of miles up the hill to the hospital (anything to avoid their parking charges..) and I'm not a regular cyclist there was no way I was going to let her take and then record any result unless there was space for an annotation!

Had to chuckle reading there when ever I drive down to Westminster for a hospital appointment the first thing they check is blood pressure, you'd think after the fun of central London traffic mine would be sky high...but nope always dead on normal...:cuckoo:

Blimey that was my diet over Christmas plus some other high fat salty snacks with the beer.....

Never mind the high fat snacks.. I've come out of the holidays with a very nice collection of beef dripping, duck fat and chicken fat in the fridge. Experimentation suggests that it's beef dripping, not duck fat, that makes the best roasties.

I was once asked what it was that made my vegetarian chilli so tasty.. .. "Frying the onions in beef dripping.. .."

Dad's quack did his moments after a prostate examination...
My blood pressure's very good apparently - or has been in the past! Got a home manometer and it seems to think I'm well within the normal range. Tomorrow is the acid test though! I'm hoping to take the bike (motor) to avoid parking problems but if it's persisting down, I'll get Mrs Nod to take me down.
