Hello there y'all . Greetings from "sunny" Manchester . Home of The Ark and second hand canoes .

Been looking for a forum to seek advice and this came top of the list . Now then, the big question...

Current equipment ; Canon EOS 5d mk 1
EF 17-40mm L USM
EF 28-300mm 1:3.5-5.6 L IS USM
Extender EF 2x 11
Speedlite 580 EX 11

I tend to do a lot of landscape and wild life shoots and recently tried out Canon's amazing 600 mm long lens and was won over by the quality . When I use the 2x extender with the zoom at 300mm to achieve 600mm I find I have to bump up the iso to try and retain a decent shutter speed for moving subjects but obviously the trade off is more noise on the result. I then found out the price and thought dream on . My thought processes then went as follows .

I knew I could not afford the £ 7000+ for the lens but what if I upgraded my Eos 5 mk 1 up to the mk 2 version at a cost of about £1650 . Would the increase in megapix' fron 12.8 up to 21 allow me to crop and enlarge the pictures to the same quality as a 600mm lens on my 5D mk 1 ?

Other benefits would include improved image capture with the mk 2 ,better resolution with 21 mp sensor & anti-shake sensor cleaning , useful as I tend to swop lenses quite often .

The big crunch question has now to be faced ... are Canon going to launch a mk 3 version of the 5d in the near future ?

..................any thoughts ?
