I dont know if anyone will be able to help here but...

Due to the UKs law on smoking inside a public house, I need to add smoke to an image to look more authentic...
I am under the impression the files are called something like PNG files, basicly I need to add in cigar smoke and maybe a bit around the edges...

Ive done a search online and cant seem to come up with anything..

Any pointers???

Leon

You can get smoke effect brushes, but not sure if that effect would be too localised, if you are trying to create a generally smokey atmosphere?

Yea trying to create a generally smoky atmosphere and also the smoke coming off a cigar. :-/

I'm led to believe that you can "smoke" for theatrical effects, also a smoke machine would give you the smoky feeling first, you'd have to do it when the pubs closed though. Actually when it's closed it may well be classed as a private house (not sure on that one)

already checked that and you cant smoke in a pub at all in any way at any time in an area where the public go.
smoke machine may be a good idea for that smokey effect but wouldnt help with the cigar part :-\

There are plenty of smoke effect tutorials if you google. You'll need to be quite handy with Photoshop, though!

I think it's tobacco smoke that's illegal, so could you use something else instead of tobacco?

I'd recommend installing brushes for smoke effects into your Photoshop regardless of whether you can produce actual smoke in the studio, it'll offer you more control & flexibility in your final photographs as smoke can be rather unpredictable & it's not always easy to capture that 'justtt righhhht' shot. Best wishes.
