I just bought a few things from Amazon direct and despite being in stock it says estimated delivery between 18th July and 2nd August! That's one big window never mind the initial delay. Is this normal?

Have you check who is shipping the items and from where? That sounds like a Hong-Kong or mainland China seller to me.

I had that with a recent order for a compact and memory cards. I seperated the order into two (camera on one, memory cards on the other). The camera was accepted for next working day under my Prime trial, the memory cards showed a significant delay and a delivery window sililar to the one you mention (despite showing as in-stock). Within an hour of placing the order there was an email update to say that the memory card order would be shipping sooner than expected. Both orders arrived within an hour of each other (camera by RM parcels, memory cards by regular RM) next working day.

If you have multiple catetgories of item on the same order the Amazon system seems to go all cautious and super-conservative on the delivery dates.

It's Amazon EU S.a.r.L. direct which is why it's surprised me. The 7-Day Shop one has already gone but no joy with the Amazon one. They've always been quick before.

gman it really sounds like they dont have stock but have a shipment coming in on them dates

we have 27,000 items on amazon and on each one i can put a expected time arrival for the stock so i persume they are doing the same

It did say it was in stock in green. Perhaps they hold their stock at the Cook Islands.

Wasn't a Lowepro bag was it? I had a similar experience recently and had to order it from a seller on there (who was excellent).

Just some more compact flash cards. I can't grumble as it does warn you beforehandm, just a little annoying that's all.

Just been emailed that it's shipping this week. Perhaps they filled the slow boat with nitro.

I have just cancelled an order from Amazon for an item which is shown as in stock. I ordered it last Friday and it finally showed as despatched yesterday. However, they still couldn't say when it would be delivered. What is going on with amazon? They used to be very reliable.

I often but books on amazon but have noticed that the service is getting slower and slower. For this reason, I bought myself a kindle and now can download the books I want from amazon and don't have to wait up to four weeks for delivery. The only downside being that when it's a photography book the photos are annoyingly in a very blurry black and white.

Live out in the sticks and get lot of stuff from Amazon, have paid for Prime which gives next day delivery, 95%+ of stuff from Amazon is delivered next day. Market place sellers is a bit like ebay- some better than others.

I where possible pay for the Guaranteed Next day delivery - never had a problem with them

Les ;)
