Yes
I ordered some books from Amazon on the 7th, which hadn't come today, so I checked my account - estimated despatch 19th - 20th Dec. So I panicked & switched to the express delivery and guess what expected despatch date 23rd Dec :cuckoo:

I'm thinking of cancelling the order & starting again or am I getting twichy over nothing as I need them to arrive before Xmas.

I don't rememebr Amazon being this slow before (even at Christmas)

 I hope not, I have some things ordered as well......

off to check now

Not much help I'm afraid, mine are still:

Items:
Dispatch estimate: 15 Dec 2008 - 16 Dec 2008

So could all change on Monday/Tuesday

I ordered yesterday

i orded on 2nd and got dispatched yesterday, should be here by 16th so 2 weeks after ordering

I've chickened out I'm afraid :shake: Hopefully everyone's order will turn up in time. Still seems a long time though from order to despatch especially as you ordered early

I've never struggled with Amazon, but I think its the quantity of orders they have at this time of year. I was reading local news tha was saying HMV online gets over a hundred orders a minute (at peak times) at this time of year, so I guess its no suprise it takes a bit longer than usual...

For two consecutive Christmases Amazon caused my grief and anxiety and I will never use them again for Christmas presents once December has arrived. Furthermore, a friend had a Christmas totally ruined by them last year. She had ordered around 20 books for friends and family. Nothing else for them, just books. All ordered in good time. She didn't receive a single one before Christmas. Why? Because one - just one - was out of stock and awaiting delivery, so they held the entire shipment back without any word of consultation.

Theres an option on the shipping page that says something like
"send my stuff as one package" or "send my stuff when its available"

I can only presume your friend had the first one selected.

to the OP - is the item from amazon direct or one of their sellers ? I'd be tempted to locate the book locally (waterstones ?) and then cancel the amazon order.

The only problem I have had with amazon was an item from one of their sellers past the estimated dispatch date with no update - when I emailed them they changed it to shipped and they had actually delivered it that day, obviously someone forgot to mark the order as sent when they dispatched.
