I'm just off the phone trying to talk a friend through getting a phone he bought from Amazon (about 8-9 months ago) repaired under warranty. They don't half make it difficult to do! First you have to get past the no returns after 30 day returns policy only to find there's actually no mention anywhere of warranty returns. To get in touch by phone you have to find the order, highlight it, choose returns and then the reason why from a drop down list in order the get the "Phone" button to become selectable, then you find you can't actually phone them, you have to put your number in a box and wait for them to phone you? We had to ring off at that point because obviously they can't phone if it's engaged.
I've always thought Amazon were quite good about returns but I've never had to try it with an older item.

Funnily enough I have just had a very good experience with Amazon and was shocked at their response to my query!
I purchased my D7000 in March of this year from Amazon and to be honest had not used it a great deal due to personal circumstances that were taking up my time. Last month when I decided to start using it I remembered having trouble when trying to remove the battery, it was really difficult to get out. At first I thought it was just me and down to technique so asked my husband to have a go. He too found it difficult so on the spur of the moment that evening I decided to contact Amazon via their online chat. I fully expected them to say send it back and we will take a look and decide how to remedy the problem. No non of that, straight away the guy said " we will send you a replacement" I nearly fell off the chair, I was not expecting that at all. Give them their dues a new camera arrived within 5 days and I sent the old one back.

First class service for me :)

Sorry your mate has had such difficulties with his phone mind.

Well to be fair they might well do the same for him, he hadn't got that far when we hung up.

Oh that's a pity, I must admit I didn't expect them to offer a replacement but was more than happy. Hope he gets a favourable outcome.

Persist. I've always found their customer service exemplary. Send them a mail if you're not going anywhere, and they'll respond.

I returned a Nas nearly a year after purchase following a poor experience with the manufacturer warranty process.

Easiest thing ever, just selected the return option next to the item in order history.

Unless things have changed recently?

Amazon have excellent customer service and returns policy, I'm sure your friend won't be disappointed.

I have had a new Kindle from them every year for the last three years, mine have frozen just on the year or just after. Really cannot find fault with their customer service.
