Yes
its so sad to hear that this is still being felled at a alarming rate, why isn't something done about it, I carve wood, but would never buy any imported
hardwoods, quite happy using recycled wood, or wood that is sustainable, I know they say its to be used for farming or palm oil growing? but sure it
must stop this madness.

its difficult just to say that from the comfort of your armchair, biggest issues is the country needs to make a living.
A lot of the countries in South America don't have many natural resources so have to "make do with what they have"
they also get a bad rap for cutting down trees etc that hoover up all the rest of the worlds pollution (irony).
they have people to feed and health care etc, would we the UK do the same if it was one of our biggest resources to sell, of course we would.
its not that easy an issue to solve, one way would be developed countries paying them not to deforest in the form of carbon offsetting, then we can pollute all we want and have the trees.

Also a lot of the issues are oil being grown for the western world in its food supply, palm oil especially, we want it but don't really care where it comes from.
Also beef cattle grazing, the developed world has a massive hunger for beef and again we don't really care how it gets to our plate.

It won't end.

Humans have been around for a blink of an eye. They may be around for another blink of an eye.

The planet, the universe, doesn't care.
