In what way is it improved the previous version? I have had a quick look at them, and apart from Siri, can't see much new?

Basically apps. You can now add Plex, I player, now tv and lots more. The processor is also much quicker. Basically the same as a Mac mini home theatre set up

Do you still need an OSX device running to access iTunes media? A bugbear of mine that the iTunes library held on an airport disk cannot be read without an OS X device running.
 
Quick update, found out that Amazon can be paid monthly now and can be cancelled anytime. Went for that as I needed some bits off Amazon. Once I get bored will be giving Netflix a ago, and follow through the other options later. Thanks for opinions, will leave the poll up until it expires next weekend.

Oh that's new and good news, was a bit of a pain having to sign up for 12 months if not sure
 
I guess too many people got trapped/tripped into Amazon prime with the trial and they sorted out a monthly option before they got into lots of trouble so could could deduct a month and not have to refund a full year. Well there's my cynical take, hahaha
 
There's a 30 day trial for Prime so you can watch it for free and then cancel. I did it twice, on their suggestion, but back before they'd added all the goodies like video, unlimited photo storage, Amazon music etc.
