Amazon hidden discounts.

 Thanks for that, will have a peep later on

Thanks

Very handy, will have a rummage now !

Intersting link - coincidentally I've just been browsing it.
A nifty way to persuade the Amazon search engine to do things your way.
Some bargains there but know your prices 'cos there's some stinkers too!

A further twist, when you're browsing the discount photo section on Amazon, if you paste the following at the end of your address bar link -

&field-keywords=-duragadget

then you'll avoid page after page of repetition.

Strange coincidence this Duragadget thing. Yesterday I was looking for a bag for a 10in netbook. Over 3400 results and page after page after page of Duragadget items which I don't want and no way of skipping past them. I tried what you said above but it had no effect, whatever it may be.

On another topic, I spent a while looking on Amazon for traditional photo albums of a large size and found a couple at £16 each via a place called Harrison Cameras. I went direct to their web site and found the same albums being sold for £1 less each. Then there was a further £1 each discount for buying two. Then, on the Amazon site there was a code for 20% discount which was only at the bottom of the first search results page, and only for use on Harrison's web site. So buying via Amazon, the total inc post was £38, but direct from Harrison's site with the discounts it was £28. I'll be looking more carefully in future.

That's odd it seems to work for me - did you include the minus sign and spell correctly?

FWIW - If you are browsing normally (i.e. not pasting into the address bar as in the special searches above) you can avoid unwanted 'stuff' simply by entering " -avoid " (no quotes) after your keywords in the normal search box, where "avoid" is any word you want to exclude from the search results set e.g. Duragadget. Spelling is vital of course and the "-" minus sign is essential.

As always, apologies in advance if I'm "teaching my granny to suck eggs" by stating the obvious.

Cheers,
Mike

Now that worked - just the -duragadget added reduced the search results from 3400 to 1900. A lesson learned. Thank you.
