Amazon Black Friday

I've had my eye on a few things I don't need but so far have not succumbed to temptation, though I might just go for one of the L-ion compact drills today.

It's been great for xmas prezzies for the last few years. Not much software yet though, but plenty of camera's. There was a thread the other year for people to pass on bargains they had in their baskets. I hepled a member get a kitchenaid food mixer at half price and they aint cheap.

These Black Friday sales have become very popular this year. You just know people are going to be fighting each other at their local Tesco Extra at midnight.

I've not bought anything on Amazon's Black Friday page although I would if they reduced something I wanted. They never seem to have the latest camera gear reduced ...

Before buying, make sure you check out http://uk.camelcamelcamel.com/. Amazon's prices go up and down like a yoyo.

yeah you have to be careful of that, best thing to do is if you are after something and unsure of price still go for the deal as you get 15 minutes to checkout, then have a quick g@@gle to find best price..

so far I have got a couple of pairs of Rocket Dog boots, some Mr Beams lights, Rocket Dog backpack, Pro Evo 2015 PS4, Tribal leather bracelet, Galt Toys sparkly mosaics kit and a Canon G16 which has already been sent back (I am on Prime so get stuff next day)

Yeah, research is key before the price appears. My wife and daughter like kipling bags so I know I'm getting great bargains.

Mine has 20+ but she let's me get away with murder when it comes to camera gear so I'm happy.

They are like locusts in there!
I looked at midnight when the first group started and virtually all the "offers" had been taken
by 00:02
There's nothing worth having anyway, as far as I am concerned.

If you want a Makita drill this is the kit you want - http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/...5SHQDCJ4CNY8QVTN&pf_rd_i=20&pf_rd_p=560250667 it's £119 just now but will drop to the BF price at 10:20 this morning. I bought it two years ago for £115 and it's the best I've ever had, great battery life and loads of torque when you need it.

P.S. are you sure this wasn't the one you spotted yesterday? £119 is the normal selling price not the deal price.

Mornin' all. I will admit to having had a cheeky browse around on the internet for any X Box One-related bargains (I'm steering clear of THAT thread) and the best I've found is £299 with Fifa 15 bundled in Argos - and I don't even like football. :wacky:

However, my nephew works in Sainsbury's as a store filler so he may be able to get me one for cheaper still with perhaps a free game of my own choice thrown in using his staff discount card. :pompous: :naughty:

Just got a Xmas pressy for my twin girls £10 cheaper :) We did all our pressy shopping for kids yesterday in Exeter but toys r us didn't have it in.

A lens I was looking at has gone up £10 on amazon today - and is now £3 more than Argos!!

I get emails regularly from an online jeans seller. The ones I always buy have been £37.99 for months. Today theyre £46.99 with 20% off for black friday. A saving of 39p

Bagged a kenwood titanium mixer for the wife. Only 17% off, but cheaper than everywhere else.

Also treated myself to some beyerdynamic dt770 headphones I've been eying up for a while.

Oh, and some microfibre cloths.... They are always handy.

I got a Wacom Intuos Pro Medium tablet for £184 incl p&p. About £40 cheaper than I could find it elsewhere.

And now the countdown to someone quoting a cheaper price...:(:banghead:

iPad Mini for £149.

I find it very stange. I've seen some very weird videos, people fighting over a TV.

Like any sale, I suspect most of the stuff that people buy will please them for a fleeting moment then end up in the loft.

Cheers.

that'll be the Asda 40" they had cheap today, it will be the same again tomorrow with the 32" for £89... very sad to see the behaviour of some people.

I got a good deal on some retracts for my quadcopter, but it was from banggood.com

:-)

Anybody else think the supermarkets are basically encouraging these fights?

Anybody else think the supermarkets are basically encouraging these fights?

They aren't encouraging them, but they aren't discouraging them. These fights break out due to peoples greed and consumerism, all the supermarkets want is people to shop and buy stuff there. The shoppers through their desparation to grab a bargain and lack of stock, overwhelming demand start the fights. If the discounts and deals weren't so tempting, this outrageous demand wouldn't occur.

You're speaking like it was something new? there have been fights over stock since the first ever sale started. Of course the businesses encourage it, they are in business to make money and they do that by getting the punters to part with theirs.

I don't remember there ever being actual fights on Boxing Day.

If the stores wanted to stop it then there are lots of ways of doing that: adequate security for example, or giving people in the queue a ticket for the TV they want so each person gets a fair chance with no melées.

But from the scenes on Friday (and the gleeful repetition by all news media in the country) mean that I wouldn't even be surprised if it turned out that some of the people in the queue were paid by the stores to be there. Asda et al really did want fights.

~Well I will confess, I never knew how I had gone through 41 yrs without a laser guided beard trimmer, but movember 15 is going to be fun!

Out local Asda this morning started their Black Friday Saturday, started with the announcements "just ten minutes to go, just 5 minutes to go..." Etc.

Caged off area, about 8 security and ten sales staff, 4 customers getting cheap no brand 32" tvs. Started at 8am, at 8:10, "we've still got 3 xboxes left at £99", at 8:15 they still had two. As I wandered past having done my shopping they still had one left.

Outlet village was swamped today though. Never seen ever car park full and people queuing to get in. I did pick up a chromecast at PC world today for £18.
