Am I wrong to laugh?

thats great! im going to order 2!! :)

people will make and selll anything!

I can actually see the physics its based upon working - its a pretty clever idea, if its mounted perfectly centred on the camera, it would be the same effect as if you were holding your camera on something above you.

£25.00

you can make one for a couple quid....

a bit of string attached to a threaded bolt on the bottom of your camera and the other end of the string attached to a washer, then just stand on the washer and take up the tension.. i have seen a few people talk about this before.

Just a different slant on an old idea!
Original is just a loop of cord with a 1/4 whitworth eyebolt attached to the camera, the loop then goes under both feet, then with slight upwards pressure, works like a tripod. Whats more it works well with light cameras!

You can tell I'm comparatively new to this...

Well, you have come to the right place to learn!!

If someone can make money out of fools buying one why not?

I've seen a similar thing on Youtube but a bit cruder. It uses a Bolt, a large washer and a length of string. you basically tie the bolt to one end, the washer to the other, screw the bolt into the camera and then stand on the washer. When you pull the string tight, it limits the camera shake in the vertical plane and, because your mucsles are in tension, they reduce shake as it's easier to hold somthing in tension steady than it is to hold a light item like a camera still.

Hope this is making sense. Try it out simply with a bit of string tied ( carefully ) around your camera and stand securely on the other end then pull up. It works and has the advantage of being light and small enough to stuff in your trouser pocket !!:)

I saw the bolt and washer with string idea ages ago, it looks like someone has developed it in to a saleable product. The problem is we all know a peice of string a bolt and a washer will do the same job

Even places where you can't take tripods or monopods. Perfect for travel, sporting events, hiking museums…

well, it would be useful for all those "hiking museums" that everyone goes to!

I fail to see the problem.
£25 is hardly going to break the bank, especally for a hobby where some spend thousands. Sure a piece of string might do the job, some people might prefer something a little more polished.

"Polished" That's it really.

It's just nicely done and if you have £25 burning a hole in your pocket I'm sure this would see some use and at least it wont get all tangled up in your pocket or bag like a bolt and a bit of string might.

It might be better at half the price though :)

I got a bit of string on a quick release plate for this same purpose lol :D

Get yourself on Dragons Den and market it for £9.99!

I remember an article in one of the mags on how to make a DIY version of this! That's probably where this guy got the idea from! As mentioned before...polished!

I have a very small space left in my 'useless photographic items that I have wasted money on' cupboard, and I think this will fit in very nicely :geek:

It does include a Universal foot pad

"steady images in low light, long exposure or high zoom situation". It may be useful for some things, but long exposure ? really ? amazing

Mmm . . . expensive, but it does work, very light and small compared with a 'mono/tripod' . . . ? that adjustable cord length  I can see the point, buy one . . . ? not at £25!!!!!!!

. . . togs seem to pay a lot more for a lot less . . . upgrade from a perfectly good and working camera 'A' to camera 'B' . . . both do the same basic job, take pictures . . . may be the execution is a little more 'polished' . . . Filters, who needs filters on digital cameras? :naughty:

I recon the world of the tog is one of the most over laden with camera gizmo's and buttons, gadgets and duplications of kit I have ever seen . . . ? At least the 'steadypod' does have some basis of working in its simplicity and compactness . . .

CJS
