No
Am I too modest about my pictures? I'm terrible at saying that I've taken a good picture or I'm a good photographer, I sometimes say I like or love certain shots I've taken. Hmm....

Still, you've got to walk that line between promotion, and sounding like a complete tool. :D

That's what I worry about. I'm also very superstitious about some things, would hate to "jinx" a photo!

Am I too modest?
NO!

Seriously, you seem to be young and making money from your photography. what's the worry?

Keep Shootin'.

Take a look at Some Photographic Myths in On Being a Photographer by David Hurn and Bill Jay.

Dead easy to find a digital version. Bloomin' expensive for a real book. Amazon do it for Kindle for less than a fiver.

Too modest? How many others have their own blog thread on here?

(not being nasty, just being honest!)

Although on the thread I just write what I've done during a day, not about the quality of my pictures!

The truly great don't need to say it. I never do and I don't even think of myself as truly great (far from it) - maybe a gifted amateur if I have a really good day.

All that matters is that you like your own photographs and strive to improve.

if people like your shots, happy days. if they are willing to pay for them, even better.
modesty is good if you're trying to chat a girl up in a bar, but if it was to promote a business i wouldn't be afraid to be that bit more assertive. if your shots back up your claims people won't think badly of you for saying you are a good togger.
if you ran around saying you were a 'great' photographer that would be a different story. people probably would think you were a tool then.

if i were a good togger, which i'm not, i'd rather go on other peoples reactions to my work to judge how good it is as it can be difficult to critique your own work. in my experience some people think everything they do is rubbish/others that everything they do is fantastic. not just in photography but in all aspects of life.

it's far more satisfying to recieve praise naturally than have to go fishing for it.

I tend to find that I'm my biggest critic, but then I suppose that is what keeps me motivated to keep taking better photos.

I have lots of photos that I have taken that I'm proud of, but I always look at them and think I could of done better. Doesn't mean I'm being modest, just striving for better photos.

I've had comments about some of my photos, mostly complimentry, which I'm happy to receive, but I'm also able to take on criticism of my photos, as long as it's constructive.

One of my favourite Winston Churchill quotes :

“Mr. Attlee is a very modest man. Indeed he has a lot to be modest about.”

Not applicable here.

Ha by starting a thread asking if your too modest is the opposite of being modest... it made sence in my head.

I have always struggled to work out where I am placed on the ability ladder when it comes to photography. I know that i am not a bad photographer but as it's been mentioned already, I see faults in my photos that maybe someone without photo noddle wouldn't, thats why compliments from people I find hard to receive.

I suppose it is natural for people to be humble about their abilities maybe.
