I am currently working on a 3 photo black and white film narrative in which I'm trying to communicate an observation.

For the last few years, especially around the "good weather months", I've noticed a growing number of young adults using the steps outside their front/back doors as a social platform... drinking coffee, smoking, having a glass of wine in the evening, drinking beer with friends, and occasionally having a bowl of cornflakes in the morning.

Has anyone else noticed this??
xx

Thats the way it used to be in the 60s/70s but never seen this in the 80s/90s or now, its more bbqs in the summer months and nothing but a polite hello during winter

Could it be more people not smoking in their houses? I don't smoke inside the house at all so will be often seen out back...

Used to be a time when people scrubbed their steps.... but as for a social function I'd say it's primarily the stoops of America that spring to mind
Can't say I've noticed a similarity over here

tis a Northern thing. No leccy, no TV - out to the doorstep to watch the world go by.

Yes, it was fairly common in the 60s era, maybe earlier, but dependant on whether or not you had the facility, the neighbourhood etc. I think today it's more of a back garden thing.

Anyway, on the subject of whether you're talking out of your **** Post a picture of it and let us help you decide. :D
