Last night after rugby, it was suggested that when we get our new clubhouse extension, we get a club photo - with everyone in it, players, wives, girlfriends, parents, youth section etc etc. Another club has done it and it's quite effective but we've decided to go one step further and have everyone spelling out our club name - either Vigo or Vigo RFC (depending on numbers)........

I have until April to sort this out....

Could either turn out very well or not

Has anyone else done a group shot with about 100 people and spelt out a word before, if so, any pointers. Our idea is to plan it on paper and then scale it up and spray the letters in paint but if anyone has a better suggestion, I'm all ears

Hi Kelack,

what does "have everyone spelling out our club name" mean? How? Will they be reciting it? One by one? Will they be singing it? Will they be showing a sheet with (part) of a letter? Will they be shaping letters with their bodies? What?

If you have 100 people in one photo, how many will be recognisable? And you had better have super-high resolution, and a whopper of a PC to process that pic!

To get 100 people, recognisable!, in one photo, I would try to find a high vantage point (a crane, or a bridge), get people to bunch up tight under it, and get 'm to all look up into the lens and say "SEX" at the same time for the exposure.
But how to work a club name into that scene without it becoming tacky I don't know.

Have fun!

"Am I mad?"

Yup - as a Hatter

As for how to do it... errr... assuming you mean a shot as the Halifax did with their 'X', then you obviously need a very high spot. Anyone got a Cherry-picker you know?

I think you could plan it with lego bricks on end (or some such), then measure it and upscale it for the day so everyone has a spot to stand on; and of course put the tallest lads at the back, smallest front

Other than that - Yup, mad as a Hatter

Dave, thanks, knew you would agree with me that I have a small screw loose somewhere.:lol:

We have a cherry picker ready and waiting, well, actually two, it's great having people in building and electrical industry as friends and family :D Hubbie and another bloke who is in CAD are going to scale draw it and then have a play with spray paint and cones, but yes, it will be like the Halifax "X". While I was at rugby this morning, one of the kids said that he had done it at school, all sitting on cones to spell out the initials of the school so he's going to ask tomorrow about details and that.

If it doesn't work hey ho, it will be fun trying :D:D
