Yes
So I went into the local jessop's the other to get a 17-50 for my d200 But they didn't have the nikon so I try it on a canon 60d I liked the lens however I really liked the 60d apart for the not really knowing my way round it but no different from when I first picked up a nikon.

Am I mad for wanting to change from nikon to canon?
What is the equal to my d200? A 60d?

I think to myself I do love nikon but at the same time all I can think about is i want a canon!

Change my mind?

You could get a D7000 or D300 for the price of a 60D

Have a look at these before making any decisions to change ;)

if you were talking about timeline then probably a 40D or 50D would be a similar level camera.
unless you suddenly inherited a load of expensive canon lenses i personally can't see any reason to change brands
some people quote Nikon CLS as a deciding factor, others quote L glass

tbh its all much of a muchness :bang:

you already have a solidly built camera that can use pretty much any Nikkor lens you're likely to come across so why the sudden urge to jump ship

one thing i do like about the big canon bodies is the line of the casing over the viewfinder. other than that i much prefer the Nikon user interface

flip a coin dude, its your choice :D

Thanks for the replies guys, I suppose it's just because it's something to spend money on lol there is nothing I can find wrong with my d200 or even my d70 for thar matter I just like the feel but I do with my nikons and like you say I think the nikon are easier to use.

I think it was the little me on my should saying get get it why not it's nice but then the other little me is saying why change yours is fine and the wife will kill you lol

Anyone else thought about changing?

well if you have money to spend and your happy with your bodys new glass it is, if not try some new nikons, and get the super af system of the d300 or the d7000.

Im happy with the glass I got, I think I might wait a while and upgrade to maybe a 300s or a 7000

Quick, call Da Boss,He's changed His mind,
No need for Da hit................:nono:

Haha that bad huh:bonk:

How do you compare your d70s to d70 (changing subject a little) I thought about putting my d70 for a d70s or maybe a d80.

Need to stop thinking :bang:

I can't see the point nor an upgrade tbh. Next logical step would be a D7000 imo.

Must say, I'm the total opposite!!

Was in town and had a spare couple of hours last week and headed into Jessops for a browse, had a go of the Nikon D90 and really liked it! Started playing about with all the Nikon bodies and really liked the feel of them.

Originally went with Canon as it felt a lot better in my hand than the lower/entry level model Nikons which felt too small and cramped, but preferred the feel of the higher range Nikon models as opposed to Canon!

Ask andyfozzy he's been Canon to Sony to Nikon to Canon and now he is back on the darkside with a Nikon d300 :)

Had a look at a few Canons in duty free on my outward bound holiday flight. They just seemed way too complicated compared to my D300s, often thought switching to get the L lenses might be worthwile but body wise i'm not so sure.

This is what i thought when trying out the 17-50 on the 60d instant reaction was this is lovely in my hand and then i tryed to use it and oh what a chore that was in comparrison to my d200. Shame:thumbsdown:

October 2011 Pratical Photography just did a group test of Sony A55, Pentax K-5, Canon 60D and Nikon D7000.

Canon 60D got 9/10 and Nikon D7000 got 7/10 with the Sony and Pentax in the middle. So I reckon you sould get the Canon 60D.

Oh yes !

Here's my train of thought when it comes to upgrading: Will upgrading change my photography? Are there features on the camera that would benefit me? If not, save your money for something that will. I went from D70 to D700 two and a half years ago, having ignored the D200 and D300. The D700 was a gamechanger for me compared to the others, due to it's low light abilities. Until something else comes along like that, then I won't even consider an upgrade.

I don't think you're mad :D

Like Tom said, I've done it several times.
I actually think I have some kind of problem though
But at the end of the day, they do all do pretty much the same thing, with a few small exceptions.

I did have a 60D for a short while, and I must say it's nothing special.
It does have some nice features, but I found the image quality not that impressive.
The older 5D for example blows it away for IQ.
I've also had a Nikon D200 lol!!! That is a good body, but the high ISO performance was pretty poor.
The D300 is lush, but again - I personally don't think the ISO performance is fantastic.

I like chopping and changing my gear. To me, it's all part of the hobby.
And I probably continue to do so.
I'm already missing Canon and thinking of changing back

Before you jump consider the glass you will be using. Get a great body and poor glass and you will get worse shots than a more entry body and better glass. Get both good glass and body and you will be sitting pretty and the only excuse to poor photographs is the person behind the camera ;)

Im begin to think that i should have done just that!:bang:

I have just been looking and thinking, if i was to upgrade my d200 i would want to go to a 700.
i have decided im going to keep using the 200 till after christmas then i shall treat my self to a 7d.

The main lens i use on my 200 is a 50 1.8 and sigma 24-135 2.8(only use it 24-50) (went to replace this with the 17-50)

Im not interested in purchasing the 17-50 for nikon now i will make do with what i got and next year buy the 7d with 17-50 and 50 1.8. DONE:love:

Thanks guys:thumbs:
