I hope this is in the right place.
Yes I am gloating a little........but I am a little excited. Altough there may be many here that think what I am happ about is nothing to get worked up over.

I am not the most confident of camera owners (as those who have meet me wil know) and I have little faith in the stuff i shot. So heavens know why I thought a subbmission to Digital SLR Photography would be a good idea, but I did it just the same.

Got an email today saying they want to use ine oif my shots. Although it will only be in their Expert Critique section, and I kow it will get ripped to shreds. But the feedback will be good and it has come at a time when I need a boost.

Anyway I know it is only a little thing to get excited about but I wanted to share as it has put a smile on my face. :D
 
Well done. At least you had the courage to submit pictures, more than I can say for myself. I am sure things will be fine.

Well done, dont worry about their criticisms either, I think they are far too harsh IMO.
 
Congratulations .... as a subscriber i will definatley be looking for your pic ..... don't worry about the Critique, it will be a great way of getting expert pointers

but hey well done in getting published, let us know which month its in!!

I don't mind harsh.................If I can't take the feedback then I have no buisness sending in my pics.

It is a real boost though.......and I know I will probably get nothing or very little for it, but I am pleased with the fact (that hopefully for good reasons) my piccie beat all those others they were looking at for that month.

The email said they wanted to use it next month, so I am assuming the july issue????
 
You should get it critiqued here first and then we'll see if there's a match.
After its published it'll be too late for genuine opinions, you'll always wonder if the critiquee is taking a lead from the article.
You ought to supply exactly the same background/context information (if there is any) to both parties.
An interesting exercise ?? or a rod for your own back :lol:
 
Well done and gloat away.... Enjoy showing your photo to friends and family in the mag - Relish in the fame!..I look forward to seeing it!

I thought I would update this post seeing as I have been away for a while.

Initally I was supposed to have had my image appear in a photography magazine in July................but July came and went with no image appearing in the magazine.

I did contact them and understandably they said they needed a varitiy of images in the mag. The the editor lost my details (he later found them in another persons file).

Well.........................finally, October................my image appeared in Digital SLR Magazine.

The reply to my image was pretty much what I thought it would be...............but still, my image was in a magazine and seen by hundreds if not thousand of people :D

You must be (and should be) very happy with yourself. I imagine magazines received hundreds of photographs each month so to have your's picked is somethingto get excited about.

And, like everyone has said, the comments you received will spur you on to develop your skills even further.

Congratulations and gloat away do deserve it. I've thought about submitting myself a few times but never had the nerve. So maby noe it could spur a few more of us to do it. Now i am going to get the mag and read the article.
 
Either way I am happy to see it in print and I now have a nice shiney new 8gb compact flash card to fill up as well (just waiting for my card reader to turn up now).
 
Congrats! When I started out a few months ago I submitted a shot to DSLR User I think, that went to print in the critique section, they didn't rip it to shreds thankfully and went easy on me. It's always nice to see a shot go to print, so well done for having the courage to submit it!

Congratulations and a great shot, still haven't plucked up the courage to send any of mine to mags yet.
