If you have had any personal experience of the results of printing directly onto aluminum or found a good supplier please could you share your thoughts here?

I have found some suppliers but I'm trying to find one or two people with direct experience of using this finish to see if they were pleased with the results and their supplier.

Many thanks in advance

ive used white wall for aluminium wall art (not direct printing though they can do that). Found the quality to be excellent and the price reasonable.

hey, I as part of my IT apprenticeship I have a work placement in the IT industry and I'm working at a printing place called "Print Lounge" and they do a thing called AlloyBoxes which is an aluminium print but canvas style (wrapped around edges) they do it as direct printing and it looks truely amazing and the quality control is really strict. have a look at them I'm not trying to advertise I just thought I'd give you my advice, it's also nice because on the website you can have any dimensions you want and they cut it to exact specifications just use the price calculator on the website :)

hope this helps :)

Hi Luke - that's exactly what I'm looking for.

Thanks for taking the time and trouble to post your reply - I really appreciate it.

I will be in touch with them I promise. I like the idea of brushed aluminium for one of my images in particular.

It's part of a bigger overall project and the aluminium printing is part of the process but as I have no previous experience of using this medium any help and advice is much appreciated.

I've never heard of this before - what is the quality of the print like? I'm looking to get a couple of panorama's printed up quite large (66"x25") and came across this thread. Is the quality comparable to printing on a high quality paper or does it give a different type of finish?

it's completely different it's hard to explain but if you go on their website they'll have a few examples to show it :)

Hi Dan - I'm experimenting too. I'm hoping the brushed aluminium finish will give me a slight grainy effect which will suit the project and multi-image display I have in mind.

Before I commit, I want to see some samples though

I've asked for some samples to be sent to me by the printer

Mine arrived today - prepare to be amazed. The finish is just what I'm looking for.

Because of the print process the inks are of a different thickness and this gives added texture - not a lot but easily discernible.

If anyone wants to see the type of finish available - Jessops have samples in store to inspect.

Although I must admit the ones I saw were heavily scored and scratched and if they had been my first samples to view I would not have been impressed.

The samples from the companies listed above were superior in my opinion but it's still good to see them in the flesh, just bear in mind other companies offer the same service.

I spent last night comparing options for direct printing on aluminium and came down to whitewall and print lounge. I've ordered from whitewall mainly due to the very large price difference, with whitewall coming in at half the price for their direct print on aluminium 30" x 20" at £75 inc postage whereas the same size in the print lounge alloy box was £152 and I'm struggling to see how the print lounge product could be twice as good?

Does anyone have any experience with these two and know how the two products differ?

Cheers
Andy

An off topic reply here but how good is it to see a reply like this, with thanks being given - it has been mentioned many times recently that one can spend time responding to a post and not get any acknowledgement, so good on you rhody !

Really interesting thread !
The only place I've seen advertise aluminium prints is Bayphoto and I've been put off by their location (shipping charges).
I've bookmarked both these companies to look at in more detail later as I've got an abstract print that is screaming out to be tried on brushed aluminium.
Thanks - Duncan

Thanks Steve - much appreciated.

After all, you only get of the forums what you put in and I really appreciated Lukes help and input.

Seasons Greetings to you
