Basic question.
I've trawled for ages over this site, but have been unable to find any reference to where I should look for the best deals. I'm looking for a foamed aluminium case. Can someone point me in the direction of a few websites to search around and compare ?

Try your local jessops, they are discontinuing them so selling them all half price, I got the big 1 last week for £30, the small 1 is only £15.:thumbs:

I've looked at their website, are they Aluminium or Polycarbonate? The picture is not great. I'm probably looking at something similar to what you appear to have bought.

Yeah sorry they are polycarbonate, not alluminium, very strong & fitts my d700 & all lenses in perfectly, I went for the 70 version, cant fault it for the price.
 
Get yourself the 70 version from Jessops, absolutely brilliant, and a snip at £30.00! I was originally looking for aluminium but am extremely happy with what I got from Jessops. Am thinking of getting the smaller £20.00 version too, you really can't go wrong at the price, sturdy too!

I noticed the £10 one on their site earlier, at that price its gotta be worth trying out.
 
I just use an aluminium flight case was £5 from maplin just pluck out the foam in the shapes you want.
 
I use the polycarbonate "rugged case" from maplin, excellent case, solid as a rock.
 
Just be aware many of these cases are not actually made of aluminium, they have an aluminium foil over thin plywood.
 
Theres 20% off cases at jessops via quidco also. £8 for the medium case is nothing. Ordered one from there site.

Just picked up the "60 Version" for £10. Even the guy in the shop was shocked when he realised the price. I'm well pleased with it.
Thinking of buying some more and sticking them on Ebay. :thumbs:
