Hi am after a free alternative to Flickr that's easy to use
I'm only going to use it to post photos on talk photography
I can't remember my yahoo email address and password its making me sign in again
and it wasn't working that well for posting up photos on here anyway

been using flickr for years, works great as for passwords, simply reset and allow your browser to automatically remember it and log you in automatically too, faultless.

Thanks :)
Unfortunately I can't remember the email and password that I used to set up the account it was a long time ago when I set it up

How do I upload photos from 500pix to here ?
I have tried but can't figure it out

Thanks :)

All you gotta do is either reset it or make another account surely and remember that one? It's a free account.

thanks yes I'm doing that now setting up another account:)

I've set up a new flicker account and can now share pictures on here thanks Paul and ricardo :):)

Nowt wrong with the forum's own gallery!

As a place to put photos for serving to other web sites it's great, but as a place to host galleries for others to view it's junk. I asked a couple of years back if I could pay for space that didn't have ads for visitors, and was told that's not something they would do, but in my experience they seem to serve images to external sites faster than flickr, and the service is very inexpensive.

wow, you guys must be using a different photobucket to me! I hate it.......

Ditto, used to use it a lot but seems to have got more and more unusable, I don't think ive used my photobucket account for a couple of years now.

I used to use photo bucket quite a few years ago and for a long time it was excellent and easy to use
Roughly 4 years ago I couldn't get it to work at all to post pictures on here and asked about it at the time on here and other people had the same problem and recommended flickr which I have been using since
Well I was until I upgraded my pc to windows 10 and then had to log onto flicker again and couldn't remember my password and yahoo email address:D
Anyway I have started a new flicker account now so all is well:)

Picasa? It's been replaced this year by Google Photos and if you've got the app on your smartphone, the pics are saved automatically.

Ah, yes I see your point. Despite my previous comment I do use photobucket for sharing stuff I don't want cluttering up my flikr account (like pics of stuff for sale). It works for that. Although nowadays I tend to use my dropbox account for that as it is so much quicker and easier.

for quick hosting for classifieds its not too bad but a site for hosting your photography work it isnt ideal. it is riddled with ads, slow most of the time, bit unreliable. seem to do a fair bit of compression too.

There are options (IIRC) to turn off compression, increase max image size from the rather small default setting etc.

I think they lost their way a little, originally competing very well with Flickr in the old days but failing to change and especially, to try to give photographers something they might want. Their business model is to be ad-funded, rather than user-funded, and that's only every going to serve the paying customer.
