Alternative to Yn04 trigger / receiver and where can I get some?

There's a long list for wireless radio triggers. I use Elinchrom skyports and would recommend them based on price and reliability. I use the skyports with Eli mono's and speedlights. www.theflashcentre.com

Have used pocket wizards, great product but extremely expensive. www.calumetphoto.co.uk

Cactus V4's...never used but good reviews.

Thanks all. Food for thought!

As always guys, thanks for the help.

The V5s were just too sexy to resist. NOW - where's the postie!!!! :)

Dav: Am i correct in saying that only gadget infinity stock them at the moment? or is there a uk retailer?

Don't know of anyone else selling them yet. Give it a week or three and they should start appearing elsewhere.

That's the only place I could find them mate.

I'll update the thread once they arrive!

I'm excited!!

Special needs students should be placed in the public schools and have IEPs in place that met all the childs individual needs, as documented by their parents, teachers, physicians and social workers, physical therapist, speech therapists etc.
Great question. Blessings, Patti.

Wrong thread? Wrong forum?

Calumet have just released a pro wireless transciever, I'm setting a thread to see if anybody has used them. They appear to be a re branded Phottix Atlas

AAA batteries (rather than CR this that or the other)

-'s
AAA - be better if AA (to match the batteries in flash guns)

Finally managed to get 1/2 hr with the V5s last night. I had to drop my eldest off at youth club. To kill some time before pickup I decided to take some shots. So, no exactly an in depth review, but here’s my thoughts so far.

My choice of location last night was a dimly lit part of town – fairly typical location for some OCF work.

So, opened up the box, extracted the two units. Each unit plays the role of transmitter and receiver – a feature I really like, although I’m not sure if you can buy single units – only twin packs? Anyway, batteries are AAA which makes life much easier (and cheaper). Box also contains two feet and pc sync.

Next, I attached one unit to a 580EXII. I have to say this was a tight fit – and as always I was very careful. Other unit onto the 5D. Thumb wheel on the unit controls the frequency – easy peasy. Off I go – up and running in a few minutes. I certainly didn’t push the range of the devices, but so far the units seem very reliable.

My only gripe so far is the location of the battery panel which releases when it’s pushed. For whatever reason, when inserting the units into their shoes I keep pushing the battery panel and hence opening it up. Small gripe I know.
So, there you go. Hardly a in depth review, but so far, I’d give the units a big thumbs up. As for my YN-04s – they are apparently on their way back from the menders – typical :)

You’ll find a few images on my blog http://www.davhughes.com/local-blog.html

Cheers.

More feedback ->

The channel select thumb wheel - be really nice if this was illuminated! In fact I think I'd prefer it if the channel was selected via switches rather than a wheel as it's too easy to move accidentally. I think I'll be setting mine and then taping over it.
