Hi all.

Just been having a play with Adobe Lightroom. Top notch I have to say, and I might have to buy it when the trial is up.

Just wondered what alternatives you guys use? Obviously bog standard Photoshop does most of the tricks, but it doesn't have the complete 'workflow' that Lightroom has.

Anything else out there?

Cheers

There are, but not really. :) Photoshop and Lightroom really rule the roost at the moment.

Aperture if you're on a Mac.

For Canon users there is DPP, but I see you're on Nikon, I don't know what their software is like.

Adobe created Lightroom for the complete workflow, and I looked for a while trying to find an alternative. Yes there is Aperture on Mac, but I've never really got on with it. If you have CS4 you can do a lot in bridge to catalogue you images, and you have ACR in Photoshop, which is effectivly the same engine as in the develop module in Lightroom.

Photoshop may be better at printing than Lightroom as you can soft proof. Something Lightroom still can't do. But that's the only real area that Photoshop scores.

I've been having a play with a trial of Bibble Pro 4.10. Looks quite nice, I havent tried Lightroom though (seeing as they don't have a linux version...)

Thanks all. Must say, I really like Lightroom.

I'd post an example of my playing, but I'm waaaaaay too cowardly.

There is NO alternative to Lightroom & Photoshop :shake:

I liked lightroom so much I bought it (whilst my wife was registered as a full time student) :D
