Canon lens mounting rings are pretty expensive, so I've been looking round for an alternative.

I have the Canon EF 70-300 F4-5.6L IS lens, which requires the Canon C (Wii) tripod mount.

There are alternative mounts available but it's impossible to judge the quality from photographs.
I was wondering if anyone had experience of Fotodiox, Maxsimafoto, JYC or any other independent mounting rings?

Bought a cheap tripod mount from A*azon for a 100mm macro, plastic, horrid and found its way into the box of things I never use, if you can I would try for the genuine article... Others may have better experiences.

£1000 lens, £150 mount to stop the expensive lens getting broken. I'd probably get the proper one as I doubt they'd be second hand ones around.

I bought a non-genuine one for my 70/200 f4, it was metal and it has been fine, sorry cant recall who made it, someone in China at a guess, off ebay.
Finish was less than perfect (just) but all in all it has been ok, then again a 70/200 f4 isnt a monster.
I normally always buy genuine Canon products
