Alternative to Canon EOS 7D

With raw files coming in at between 20-30MB per file I don't think a 4GB card would last long - as little as ~133 images when shooting at high ISO.

At £20 a pop I reckon 8GB Sandisk ULTRA offers a good balance of speed (now 30MB/s, which is the speed that the Extreme's used to be), price and capacity....

I use those cards - v good value I think.

So do I, but looking at the specs on the 7D, I'm very impressed.

( Oh, and Nikon are outselling Canon for the first time in eight years, actually.
They held the lead with the D1 and D1x/D1H, then lost out to Canon until the advent of the D3 and D3x.)

Thanks guys...spoke to Kerso and we have a deal in place for the next 7 days... Assuming Katy can come up with the cash this week then it's the 7D and the 17-55 f.2.8...
I'll pop for the grip, batteries and a brace of Sandisk Extreme 16Gb (60x write-speed)cards as my contribution...

Or a nice flash - 430EXII?

Grip...I know Dan's work and have seen the sort of thing he used to produce...if he wants a flash he can buy one himself...lol

Have to say Rob, that's a fantastic wedding present. For someone who's been away form photography for ten years, he's in for a real treat. Don't forget to charge the batteries and give him an international adapter if he's off on honeymoon ;)

Such a shame he won't be able to borrow your lenses... :D

Yeah, like I'd let him...lol
At least I get to shoot the wedding the way I want to...lol
