I know this has been discussed in the past and I have done a search but I'd like some new views as the market is changing so quickly. Which site would you use as an alternative to 500px? Excluding Flickr. I am asking because I don't like the recent change they have made. In fact the only change they have made that I like is getting rid of the dislike button.

As far as my trade goes, I decided 4 years ago to have my own website.
The only likes I get are the registered visits and the business it brings my
operations… and that's the only ones that counts.

Many colleagues have accounts by many social sites and, though they
have x numbers of likes, they have a harder time to make a living than
my family does.

My experience proved the decision to be right and can only recommend:
get yourself a website and learn to maintain it!

I have a website but I get quite a few enquiries through photo sharing sites for my Iceland tours so they work for a good platform for that so I don't want to dismiss them. I am just getting fed up with the changes 500px keep making and wondering if there are some alternatives that I can't find.

Yes - I'm also not too sure about the latest changes to 500px .
It depends what you were using the site for - to just show case your images, as an advert for your trips, etc ? Some big players in the photographic world trawl through 500px but your tagging ( as always) is important. So to cut a long story short can you outline in a bit more detail what it is your looking for and people can therefore respond more accurately you.

I remember being invited to join a similar site to 500px but can't remember the name or find the email.
It was more as an extra advertising tool but I have sold a fair amount through their prime store but I am becoming more frustrated with their changes.

There is curated photography site called 1x.com
If it's any good at advertising your product I don't know.
What is your 500px label - I would like to have a look at it.?
Just google James Boardman Woodend to find mine on there.

Yes, it would appear so! Very nice work James. The next 3 trips to Iceland are more tours than workshops so I should b able to get some shots in as well.

'Likes' on social media sites (even spcialised ones) and like votes in Eurovision. They are generally given for political reasons and/or to get a 'like' back in return, and rarely have anything to do with the quality of the work.

Decide on the audience you want reach, then work out the best platform to reach them on. Don't worry about 'likes' or 'favourites'. focus on more meaningful outcomes.

It has nothing to do with "likes" As stated above it is a platform and I get a fair amount of work through it. I'm not looking for someone to tell me if they like my work or not. You seem to have missed my point.
