Blah, flying, If you want to do it, just do it!

The processing suits the shot, and it's a nice shot, but no, it's not on theme. :p Blah.

Yes, I too Envy their freedom of flight. Good composition - don't mind the grainy quality at all.

Thanks Carl

Hi Allan ...I like the dreamlike idea ... I agree its amazing to watch a bird in flight soaring along so effortlessly....not sure if the photo actually conveys envy but I'm totally with the thought behind it.

Thanks Susie not sure I get Envy from it either

What noise ;)

I rather like it and have to say I really do envy birds, must be wonderful up there :)

Cheers.

Thanks Andy what noise indeed

Like the idea, alway envy of their ability of flying high and freedom. Photographic wise, like the positioning of the subject, the B&W and grainy effect work too.

thank you

Certainly on theme for me, no shoehorn required. Nice positon of the gull in the frame, the noise adds to the image.

Thanks Michael

Blah, who asked you your opinion :ROFLMAO:

Having just seen your entry i take it back, please don't hurt me

I guess it's on theme in a roundabout way, yes thinking about it, I do envy birds' ability to fly. As far as bird shots go, it's unusual. (y)

Hi Allan, major catch up from me :)

Noise- very clever, and, reading the description of how you did it, very Blue Peterish. Reminds me of gargoyles high up on the facade of a grimy church - a bit spooky.

Envy - I envy any kind of freedom of movement I suppose as I struggle to get around. And kudos for using film and developing it yourself , as posiview said, noise, what noise ;)

Inverse - simple idea brilliantly executed (unless this is some new Waitrose variety :p)

Hi Allan. Love Inverse, very crisp and another good take on inverse processing.
Was the strawberry masked, as it's interesting to have the strawberry inverted yet the shadow remains dark.

Really like that, nice idea well executed

Thanks for looking in

A new variety in the psychedelia aisle, have you not been down there recently :wacky:

just played about with the red, green and yellow hue/saturation channels in PS

Excellent idea Allan. Well executed. Not sure about the position on the 'page' as I think that it floats a bit whereas the shadow suggests that it is on the ground . However that is minor and a choice issue - does not detract from an inspired idea.
And you shop at Waitrose too. Always knew you were posh.

I'll have you know I shop at Morris and sons (I think thats what they are called)

I like that too Allan - simple and colourful.

Thank Carl

Hi Allan spot on for the theme and a smashing choice ...that's a very enviable pure white background ....very well done with that one

Thanks Susie

Can't really add anything to what has already been said, clever idea and well executed Allan

Not only a first rate photo, but a brilliant idea for the theme. (y)

Top Shoppery, but more than just that.

Can't really offer any critique to what I would say is a superb shot, the light is perfect and your pp is spot on and obviously theme wise its on the money, nice one

Well there can be no argument that is a Shimmer. This is another theme that has me stumped ... even thought to get a few shims from the local DIY and manufacture a portrait of a shim fitter. Just think Allan, you may be one of a few that has successfully managed to meet the theme !!

Hi Allan,
Apologies I've not been commenting much of late. Just catching up on your latest...

Noise: Great take on the theme. Excellent subjects to shoot and I really like the noisy shot too. Very clever and well thought out (y)
Envy: I like the story behind this shot. The mono processing is nice too. I also envy you for taking and developing your own film.
Inverted: Nice, simple and perfectly sharp. Good shoot:)
Shimmer: The perfect shimmer shot. Well done!

It has its element of boring, I'll give you that, but I like it, abstract with a touch of psychedelia.

That's certainly shimmery Allan, I would have been tempted to rotate it to the right so the darkest shade is on the left, I just tried it and I think it gives it more of an abstract feel, I saturated the colour a bit too, I can't resist fiddling :) spot on for the theme ...so no complaints....I rather like it.

you cant rotate it Susie it would be on its side  but seeing that it's you I will let you off, thanks for commenting

Bang on Allan
Lovely idea well executed

Shimmer: Simple, to the point, on topic and well captured.
You'll see far more boring shots than that on many office walls.
You could probably sell prints of that to corporates and retire on the proceeds.

Inverse: I saw this and thought "wow". On closer inspection the shadow looks a bit noisy, did you up the white on the bg? - still a great job though Allan.
