Alsjazzeras 2016 TP 52 WEEK 52 CELEBRATE/CELEBRATION ADDED

It does look creepy - Day of the Triffids for sure..
Alien works very well. Excellent lighting make the seed head look rather creepy...

thank you

I appreciate the effort that went into it and the idea is good for the theme but TBH it looks a tad under exposed on my monitor (calibrated on Friday).

After your comments regarding crit in the other section, how do you know its not my artistic vision ;)

Hi Allan ...Emma's right, it does look like a Triffid, I think it would also work in a much wider black surround to give it a more floaty otherworldly feel, Well done with all those layers, I tried that ages ago and it's not easy. It's a difficult topic, nothing I've thought of is working out a the min.

Thanks Susie I did have some wider shots but they kind of lost some of the detail as for stacking I won't be doing that again for a while, it is a difficult topic hence the macro route things always look a little strange close up

Weird enough to be "Alien" for me Allan.
I quite like the low key effect TBH :)

Looks Alien to me great idea for the theme, I like the composition

Some real nice texture in the BIG cheese & BG.

After's a nice idea, good to see colour! rain drop, dof, nice job.

Alien ... yes. Intriguing too.

Nice idea with good composition and I quite like it. The black background and the under exposure enhance the alien theme.

Thanks, it is a dark image but I thought it was right for the theme

colour, will try harder for you

Exposure looks fine on my uncalibrated Mac :)

First thing I thought was to rotate it 180°.

Very strange whateveritis :)

Cheers.

Thanks, looks ok to me too on my uncalibrated mac :), never thought to rotate it will take a look

its a very common hedgerow plant I see it all the time, I just thought it might be interesting/strange close up

I thought that there would be a flower on your post and I like the rain. But, the spiders web is stunning, perfection at its best.:)

Fair point but then I wasn't suggesting that it should be substantially different from what you presented by way of crop, color, orientation, etc. (which was my point in the other thread), just that from my point of view I think there was more to be had. I guess there is an outer-space like feel to the black background from which the seed head is emerging.

Liquid - the cobweb is nicely detailed but my pick would be the flower, very good light on the water drops and the flower with nice sharp details in the centre of the flower

I agree with Chris, #2 is my fave with the movement and single droplet on the stem.

The point is you made a series of comments about crit which makes it impossible in a way to comment on what you submit without referring to it.
I made a comment about your deer pic asking why you used the angle you did and your reply just used what other people had said about it, I was interested in why you chose to turn it 30 degrees in PP you didn't take the picture like that,
don't get me wrong i liked the pic it was just a question, I wasn't getting at you or indeed wanting you to change it.

We should be open to all crit regardless of what it is, there have been a few occasions when someone has pointed out my choice of crop etc in the past and they have been right, we are not always the best judge of our own pics and all said and done you can choose to ignore it if you wish.
Hope that hasn't come across as a rant I have nothing against you :)

Wasn't really looking for an outer space feeling was just trying to make it more mysterious its not a botanical image as such so the darkness worked, for me anyway.

Thanks, to be fair I am not keen on either of them, not got the time nor the inclanation this week for it :grumpy:

Two great images Allan, it doesn't matter that its not the only flower in the rain ( Hmmm there's an idea for a song title :D )
That's my favourite of the two, you caught the heavy rainfall well, and the single drop on the stem adds a little Je ne sais quoi
( That's French you know :D )

Thank you

Hang on a cotton pickin minute, look at the cobweb its spun like the finest of spun silk, if a breeze touches it, it is sure to break. The rain drop its raindrops on it and even though water is heavy the web remains in tack. The droplets glistens like a thousand small diamonds, each droplet is almost evenly spaced and are the same shape. Come on you guys polish your specs have a second look, look at the beauty of such an exquisite piece of natural beauty. The web comes first and the flower 2nd. To Allan, as I said in my first post, Perfection:clap:

Thanks again, I am not sure its that good, but glad you like it

Cymru ~ Bendigedig.:p
Well you would say that, you live there, I on the other hand have only worked there a couple of times and that was 3 times too many :p

I spent a week there recently.
It rained.
A lot!

@alsjazzera of the two the web is my favourite, but the rainy flower is very pretty and fits the theme just as well. :-)

Hurt by that post.
Awww don't take things to heart, after all you could live in MK like me, all roundabouts and concrete cows apparently :D

I love the way you've highlighted the rain against the black background, and the light and shadow on the flower. The spider's web is beautifully sharp across the image, too - not always easy. I really like both of these - what is it you're not happy with?

Can't really put my finger on it, I did have another idea but couldn't make it work, so probably the frustration from that and not having the time in the coming week to make it work

Thanks for liking them :)

Allan both of your images for Liquid are fantastic.

The flower in the rain is beautifully light and has some brilliant detail.

The spiders web is wonderful I love it, great Dof and lovely details

The web is a perfectly good photo for the theme, but I think the flower in the rain is outstanding. Well lit, great colours and great sharpness.

Wow !!! look at you with TWO shots again, I think this is the second time this year :D

A couple of great images Allan, the background through the web is a peach (okay, it may be a garden) having a single thread coming out of the corner is the type of detail I expect from you, spot on mate !!!

The backup image is equally good, the water is highlighted very well and the light pnm the petals, another great one

Without giving away trade secrets... did you use a hose/watering can/backdrop for the flower image ??

Think we're on the same plain this week Allan, my back up was a spiders web :) and I haven't done the one I really wanted to do either :(.....at least there might be a re shoot coming up.

I like them both by the way ....that's a super web, they're amazing sturdy constructions aren't they, and the rain definitely adds to the flower shot.

I know prolific aren't I :wideyed:
I used a hand sprayer the kind cleaning products come in, the light was the light through the kitchen window quite harsh I think you can tell as some of the flower is blown out but helpful in picking up the water with a piece of black card for the BG

Thanks Susie, great minds and all that

(y) to both of these.

dew drops (?) on a web with oof BG is always a winner.

The lighting and motion blur of #2 is top job.

Love both

#1 is spot on focus with nice smooth bokeh and beautiful pattern too.
Beautifully lit in #2 with perfect shutter speed to capture just enough of the rain drop motion.

Thanks

Yup, liking that one. Lovely detail, great DOF and I rather like the muted tones of the BG.

Cheers.

Thanks

Love it Allan...that's right up my street!
The cracked effect in the hand and spoon is superb. (Unless you actually have such a severe skin condition, then I humbly apologise :-) )

A very well considered image Allan - I like the reversal of effects on breaking a boiled egg. Excellent shopping great imagery. (A bit of moisturiser may help recovery)

Brilliant idea very well executed, a really strong image for the theme. Did you photograph the cracks or draw them?

Nice PS skills to create an interesting juxta position,Nicely thought out and executed.
