Alsjazzeras 2016 TP 52 WEEK 52 CELEBRATE/CELEBRATION ADDED

Serene - Nice shot, lovely bokeh and spot on theme wise. Only crit would maybe be that I'd like to see some warmer tones in there?
B&W - Lovely! Sharp, great idea theme wise and I love the abstract-ish crop.

Very clever idea for B&W and very well executed. Love the crop and the DoF and the fact that you left the photo in colour.

WEEK 36 ANCIENT (edited)

Flint Castle by Allan Howe, on Flickr

Begun in 1277, one of the first castles to be built in Wales by King Edward I. Its most impressive feature is a solitary round tower, isolated from the rest of the inner ward. The castle famously features in Shakespeare's Richard II. Flint Castle serves as an important setting for a crucial part of the play – the moment that Richard II is captured by Henry Bolingbroke, ultimately leading to Richard’s abdication and the ascension of King Henry IV.

Very well composed, and dramatic sky. Not so sure about the B&W conversion, the tower seems to be a bit dark against the bright sky.

Interesting old castle tower Allan.
Nice find :)

Enjoyed reading the Shakespearean link. Well composed - particularly liked the definition in the clouds.

You've been posting a lot of B&W recently Allan, last week's being the best. ;)

I like your compo here, good feeling of space, and some pretty good detail.

Nice lead in to the tower and dramatic sky, well composed.

Thanks

Thanks, thought the quote to be quite relevant

Last weeks :p thank you

That's real nice Allan, not certain if more of the wall could come into the frame ?? very nice sky behind it sure makes it stand out and the low horizon sure brings the scale to the fore... like it :)
Wonderful structure Allan and spot on for the theme - I feel as though I'd like to see a little more foreground though and as Dean said maybe more of the wall?

Thanks, not sure why I didn't include more of the wall, maybe people there where a few of them about.

Very nice Allan, nice processing too.

Like the vanishing point perspective and definition of the clouds Allan. Looks good in b&w.

Excellent choice in the B&W Allan, I like the cloudy sky with the crisis crossing lines, a very nice aspect.

Thank you

Lovely clouds setting of the typical unban street roofline, with chimney pots, aerials and phone lines... Liking it in B&W too :)

Thanks

Good details and nice conversion for urban, I like the telegraph pole and wires and the road leading down to the factory.

Yes good detail ... those wires against that fluffy sky. (y)

Lovely image Allan - especially like the eye engagement of mother to daughter and girl to camera. Impressive with film camera .. I wouldn't have a clue - would be lost without the digital capability for repeat exposures etc.

Thanks Carl, most film cameras like the one i used above have all the settings you are used to with digital just not the ready to view image, it makes you consider it a little more before pressing the shutter

Lovely portrait Allan, great eye contact from the little girl too :)

That is a very good image and extra bonus points for film, very well done (y)

Hi Allan,
Ancient - I missed the unedited version, but this works nicely. The small white cloud looks like it could have just popped out of the top of the tower.
Urban - The desaturated look suits the shot Allan, nicely symmetrical too. The dotted white lines lead you to the spiky thing at the end of the road(I zoomed in and still have no idea what it is).
Pair - Great shot there, as others have said you've captured the moment when the littleun was looking right at you.
The film grain seems to give it a timeless aura.
