weekly alsjazzera TP52 2014 WEEK 52 SUPPORT added

Yep, liking the steps Allan, as mentioned good composition with the steps leading up the image (y)

yep - what they all said... nice use of the portrait orientation too, and the white handrail stands out nicely.

Hi, I like your final Links. Loads of detail to look and nice low angle.

Steps, well composed but feels a little tight. Again, good detail and well converted

Cheers.

Hi Allan

Step....now those I like....well framed , mono suits perfectly , plenty of detail (y) Just wondering....would it be possibly to get down to the bottom of the steps & shoot up them ? Not saying you should have done just wondering if it's possible ?

Hi Allan - hope that you had a good break
Linked - edit- like it. perhaps a bit more contrast and a rotation ccw to get the various chains going to the corners, but a good subject with lots o f interest captured.
Step - good use of portrait, nicely framed and interest. good use of B&W to concentrate on the shape of the structure without distraction

Very nice tones, b/w works well.

I personally would have liked to have seen a shot taken lower as I seem to be looking down at the steps :)

Cracking detail in that flower there. Nicely lit and a super black background.

Was it you last year did two dandelions side by side? "Pair" maybe?

Step - Good conversion and I like the curved steps on the wall. It makes me wonder what's around the corner at the top

Nature - Again I would echo the need for a bit more light on the subject but I like the composition and the black background has been nicely handled.

Step - super shot and good composition.

Nature - like this one too with ink black background, negative space. Lighting looks fine to me, very natural.

Yeah great image mate, I like that. Only crit from me is, what is that blue light that is on the stalk coming in from the right? For me it's slightly distracting but an easy fix.

Good work (y)

Nice shot. Like the negative space too.

Thanks

Guilty as charged.

Hi Alan
Nature/Natural...for me the flower could benefit from a bit more light from the front, it needs a bit more yellowness, nice sharp shot, lovely black background :)

Thanks for looking and now look what you have started

My thoughts exactly. Plenty of detail, though.

Cheers.

adding more light was taking away the detail, the light was just light coming from a window behind the flower and I used a reflector to bounce some back.

What they said ^^^

Otherwise it ticks all the boxes

see above

Good work (y)

Blue light I have no idea its just light from a window behind, but I would be interested in how to fix it as it been bugging me

I'm assuming you use PS or equivalent software... Create hue/saturation layer, click blues and cyans, move the slider down as appropriate. Should fix it (y)

I use elements, thanks for that will give it a try (y)

Anyway as I am off work today with the mother of all colds have done a couple more, with added light different subjects though

The last four weeks of crit has been too much light, not enough light, no shadow, too much shadow :p

the first one is the pick for me, lit beautifully and plenty of detail in the flower. well done(y)

I like the first one, nice composition, and the green BG seems more appropriate than the black of the second pic.

2nd for me Alan, good detail, like the clean green bg (y)................would have looked better with a shadow, not too much though  :D

Nature - stunning image, like the composition, and the lighting and it fits the theme.

Thank you Mandy

:mad::p:D

#1 and #3 for me! I like the black backgrounds, as others have said a bit more light on the dandelion would make it stand out even more! What flower is #3 it looks so delicate!

Duly noted about the light, no idea what 3 is some kind of shrub which was growing on the verge of an old railway line, I have past it loads of time but never really looked at it closer till the other day

Great action shot of the ya dog Allan, composition, dof, work well (y)

awwwww babies............. great when they're asleep :D

All the best for the new arrival (y)

Cracking flower portrait, great depth of field. A nice touch with the ends of the petals being dark.

HI Allan

sorry for being so late to your thread......been stupid busy !

That Dandelion shot is a corker....love the lighting , makes it really pop off the screen , fab black bg & nicely placed...negative space works well

Nothing wrong with the 2 extra Nature shots you've posted but for me they pale against the Dandelion........lighting & shadows look good on them as well :D

Action......love it...different to the usual action shots but still love it....(y)

mono...oh yes , lovely n sharp , good conversion...I wondered about the stalk coming in from the corner as well....but then you'd possibly need more space under the flower ...not sure if it would work

Great shot Alan, processing works very well (y)

Hi, Action, looks to be having a great time. Looks a little flat on my laptop.

Mono, works well and a nice clean BG. I'd like it all in focus though.

Cheers.
