hmmmm - nice detail in the match stick, and the match head...

why am I expecting the smoke to be going up though??

(Or is that the point and I've missed it somehow?? Wouldn't be the first time!)

I rather like that (y) Far superior to my efforts

Thanks for looking in

Lovely composition, fits the theme beautifully great shot.

Thanks

You would think so but this is what came out so this is it, no trickery it is just what it is.

Certainly captured the smoke well, looks interesting flowing down the match stick :). If anything, just looks a little dark to me down the right hand side

Love that texture and light on the matchstick. I could have done with more smoke to be honest.

Chin up, Allan

I rather like Smoke. I did a second take because of the smoke, but plenty if detail...possibly even a close crop, and nice clean BG.

Cheers.

Bubble - Nice clean shot with lovely golden colour
Smoke - Nice and simple good comp (y) just a very slight CCW rotation to straighten

Thanks you are right about rotation but i think i will leave it

I was thinking this too...

Good idea though I like it (y)

The smoke was how it was, must have been the air movement in the room

thanks, it was lit from the left with a flash so to be expected i suppose

getting any smoke was a bonus

I wondered what it was.

Certainly different (y) in a good way.

Thanks

I like this but couldn't decide what seemed wrong and then realised I was expecting the smoke to rise.

it would be something to do with physics i suppose

Thanks, not having a good time with the last 2 weeks and am being a bit negative, i am sure it will get better

It looks good to me, I like the lighting and the smoke drifting downwards.

thank you

Sorry if you come to this and are slightly confused there was a picture but I disliked it from the start, was just being lazy really.
the last couple of themes have been :meh: :indifferent:

Yes I saw the first one briefly and agree with you - bubbles and smoke, both a bit :meh: :indifferent: Now if I could have been in middle east could have shot one of those hubble bubble things and killed 2 birds with one stone

Smoke - the match. good idea and very well captured . Good b/g and lighting and really good colours. Fine detail in the match and the head. Just that bit of the head top right - not sure whether it needs just a very very tiny bit more light to show it is attached to main head - but being picky there.

Great start to your 52 challenge Alan - Odd and Line of your initial shots I really like a lot.. the B&W for the railway lines worked really well and draws your eyes to the theme

'Play' feels a bit to dark for me (as I think others have already said) - really like the Cheetah shot - great detail and lighting and you've isolated the cheetah from what could have been a distracting background..

Bubbles is one of the best I've seen so far - fits the theme perfectly and you've really captured the colour superbly :)

Looking forward to following the rest of your challenge as the year progresses

Hi Alan

wayyyyy better than anything I managed so well done you...what a grotty theme !

I'm liking it just as is.....detail in the burnt head , whisping smoke & nicely sharp

Hiya Allan, how's Chester coping with all this water? Is the racecourse flooded?

Anyway, I popped in to say hello and have a look at what you have been up to and there I was scrolling along when when I saw those toys and I damn near sh*t myself! That's a cracker of a pic...

I like the light in the slate mine pic too. (y)

Keep it up now :cow:

Well captured, the sun light makes the image for me :)

Fits the theme and a good image nice work I like it.

Thanks for calling in Brian, Chester racecourse you mean Chester lake?

Hi there...smashing light falling on the slate mine....very nice....and another different take on the theme (y)

Thank you

Hi, Allan, nice rays in #1 and real potential there. Bit closer, maybe.

Cheers.

Wanted to get the whole area in with the slag heaps for the theme

Well captured, the sun light makes the image for me :)

Thanks shooting into the light was such a pain

I guess you've headed across the border. Maybe Bethesda direction? Anyway it's a super picture Allan. For me the crop is spot on showing the greenery around the dark gray's quarry. You've captured some lovely lighting conditions as well.

You've made a cracking job of that

Nice rays, it almost looks like two photos combined.

Slate mine - an absolute beauty, perfect crop, superb detail, even see the little caravan up on the slope.,

beautiful light with the rays and the lower contrast of the hills behind.

Super lighting you manage to capture there.

Thanks

Very nice Allan :)

I too love the rays of sun beaming down from the misty sky, there are several layers to the landscape which looks very effective, loving the high PoP too - Nice One mate (y)

it was a long slog to the top of the hill

you have lost me there Bethesda direction? as for the crop I wanted to include the whole mine, its not often you have that view.

(y)

Thanks for taking time to look at the large version there is quite a lot of detail

Hi Allan both smoke and mineral spot on, love the mine one :)

Thank you

Hi Allan

Mineral - another outdoor shot - so few so far this year. Good comp and well handled difficult lighting - top part is a bit 'grey' but the benefit of that is the lovely sheen that you have captured on the slate. Quite a lot of interest throughout - the buildings, the colours , those little bright flashes of light bottom and middle right and left. (y)

Good lighting on the Slate mine and lots of detail where it is needed.

Beautiful sun rays on the slate mine - something I've never successfully captured. The lighting is spot on.
