Finally my camera has arrived.... Hopefully the weather improves a little and il be out fireing a few shots :)

Hope everyone is ready for some terrible photos, critique would be most welcome as I've never taken anything more than a picture of me or my family on a special occasion so it's going to be a real bumpy ride and a massive learning curve.

Regards
Dan

May seem like a stupid question, considering your handle...what camera did you go for?...
Dont be afraid to take loads of pics..make mistakes and learn from them...dont be afraid to try things and test out settings..

Congrats on new camera - but according to the specs 30 secs is the longest exposure you can do and there doesnt appear to be a bulb mode :help:

30 secs is fine. take lots of 30 sec exposures and stack them with startrails
http://www.startrails.de/html/software.html

thank you everyone, it would seem i have found the right place to get some honest opinions that i can learn from.

i had a feeling that 30 secs was the longest so i guess i better start polishing up on processing aswell, anyone know of any starter edition software i can use on windows 7 machine ?

Regards
Dan

If you check out my signature I have a guide on how to do star trails you should give that a read and if you have any questions that it doesn't answer please feel free to ask

I would also suggest for startrails you use StarStaX again it's free software and it's miles ahead of Startrail software including the v2 version of Startrails

Welcome to TP
