WEEK 13 TEXTURE

This is an oak Bowl I turned and finished in a Japanese technique called Shou sugi ban or Yakisugi .
It involves burning the surface of the wood with a blow torch.
 
Both photos are so well lit! Your broken shot is very powerful and.moving and so simple too - very clever!

And another excellent bowl - would love to see a close up of that burnt finish

Thanks, can't really take credit for the lighting both shots were taken in the kitchen using the light coming through the window.

What a shot!! Is this natural or artificial lighting and what background have you used?
 
That's a cracker. If it were mine I'd burn in the shadows to nearer black.
 
I like that a lot more than I thought I would, somehow that extreme treatment draws me in.
 
Really nice shot Allan, love the high key processing.
