All the new Sony Stuff!

well, the Mp wars are still on but they appear to have matched the best previous APS-C upto ISO6400 but added a hefty Mp increase. I wonder what % of APS-C users regularly use more than ISO6400?
Perhaps they have a new FF low-light monster coming next year?
Also, for video on these cameras they have switched to an electronic image stabilisation system rather than shifting the sensor - I suspect that smaller pixels helps with that.

I regularly shoot at ISO6400 on my D700 and ISO3200 on my D300s. If I could shoot at ISO6400+ on APS-C and get the same low light performance that I get from my D700 then I'd quite happily do so.

On video, are they discarding the pixels at the edges in order to provide stabilisation when it's not built into the lens?

I think that expecting it to beat a D700 is a bit unrealistic but if you could match or better your D300s' ISO 3200 performance but at 6400 & with more Mp would that interet you if Nikon used this sensor as well?

Unfortunately I don't know the full details but I understand that comes into it, the video image area is smaller than stills to start off with.

Maybe not beat the D700, but perhaps match it in terms of high ISO noise. The D700 is a few years old now and leaps and bounds have already been made with the likes of the D7000 which is APS-C.

If the NEX-7 at ISO6400 could match my D300s' noise performance at ISO3200 then I'd be impressed.
