Hi, this is my first post.

A bit about myself. I came back to photography about three years ago. When I was a student, several decades ago, I used to be a keen amateur with my Canon AE1 and developing my own film. Must say I find digital much easier and more creative.
I feel a bit like a typical 'all the gear and no idea' bloke, however I am getting better. I imagine I have the same issue as many which is finding time for my hobby. I am always interested in what others have to say about all aspects of photography.

Hopefully at some point I will be able to make a positive contribution to the forum.

Hi Brian and welcome to TP.
If you used an AE1 and did your own processing you'll have had a good grounding, I expect.
I have a similar background except my kit was out of the Nikon stable.
Digital is excellent once the complxities of the cameras are mastered.

That's my line!!!

Welcome to TP Brian. I saw your introductory post and thought it was something I had to investigate! My first foray with Canon was a T70 but I was never into the film processing thing. Digital is wonderful because much of the technicalities are the same - and all the old (EOS) lenses can still be used with many modern EOS DSLR's. Possibly the biggest leap is in the ISO settings but I'm sure you will have worked that out already.

As far as quality is concerned, I'm sure there is a lot less between analogue and digital than people would like to admit, but it's a heck of a lot easier to go out and take hundreds of shots without the related expense. The only trouble nowadays is that you need to be somewhat 'pc proficient' in order to achieve the desired results. Still very enjoyable though.
