all nikon F mount cameras .. any Nikon with a D prefix

Great work in today’s winds.
It was far worse Sunday morning tried to get some shots but with little success , the whole front at new Brighton was closed off and fort perch was being in a hurricane

@the black fox : Thanks for posting these BIF shots - you've helped me make up my mind. I have been considering replacing my Sigma 100-400mm F/5-6.3 DG OS HSM Contemporary, Sigma 1.4TC and lens dock for the Nikon AF-S Nikkor 200-400mm f/4G IF-ED VR II and a 1.4TC. Now all I have to do is sort out the dosh :)

Nikon D7200 - 35mm D lens The camera had been dropped in a river a few days before, along with the SD card. This image was taken quite a number of years ago and shows a young girl looking out of a carriage while many of us were snapping photos of the Holi festival in Kathmandu. Two weeks later, there was an earthquake, force 7.9. I wonder if she and her family survived the ordeal.

one of many taken today at the Abbaye de Fontfroid, they had an orchid show on - I will post a 'few' images elswhere shortly - but this caught my eye - where they did not want the public to go were chains with the 'cross' - I liked the stark symbol on the chain and the shadow on the stone - works best in B & W

That’s good to hear ,glad to be of help .. it’s an awesome lens super sharp and fast . A tad heavy but just about hand holdable ( 7lbs ) I found the 1.4 tc made it to front heavy so may put the grip back on the d500 .. but monopod or tripod should help to .. also picked up a 500mm f4 in the week yet to try that in anger.
The 200-400 seems to go for quite a low price as far as I can see .but the F4 apeture is the winner wide open my lads ordered a Z8 so will see soon how it performs on that beast

Okay Jeff, enough already! I'm scraping the bottom of the piggy bank as we speak to find the necessary funds :D Don't tell The Boss but I may have to use some of the new bike budget that she gave me last Christmas (and I haven't spent yet)

Thanks for this. There are few opportunities at the moment to travel anywhere but the UK and that's limited too. I'd love to visit India and Nepal again, so much to see and snap.

Never mind spent all day Monday in a buzzard hide without a pic , then one flew over the car on the way home

Quite a few years back, a colleague from work said that her and her hubby were going out the following day, in search of a rare bird. We were visiting the same piece of moorland, sheer coincidence. They came back from their trip and reported that they failed to set eyes on it. Daren't tell her that we'd spotted this rare bird crossing the road on our way out and on the way home. Made me smile.

few from this afternoon using the new to me 500mm f4 vr for the first time , I messed up this mornings shots being to cautious , but these were taken after a chat with my lad and advice on settings . and surprisingly all hand held to which given the lens size I didn't think would work

Took this a wee while ago for a club project.
D3100, 35mm prime lens.

This small boat is, I am led to believe the last one still operational from this small harbor on the rugged north east coat of Scotland.

And this is one of the relics that I have found very close to the shore which was so busy once, that they had motor powered winches enclosed in sheds to haul the boats up the beach.
Again a D 3100 with a 35mm lens.
Ps edit program used was NX Studio.

Most people would ask why are you photographing that old rubbish , but you saw the potential ,very nice too.

I have found that that old things dotted around the local coast are a physical reminder of a way of life that is all but gone, and will never return.
It is a memory for some and a total obscurity for others.
In my life time most of these items were once daily parts of life, and now are sitting rotting away, forgotten and overgrown.
The world has changed since I was a schoolboy, so to capture some of it may soon be the only thing left after we are no longer here.

A few from last Saturday's visit to the West Somerset Railway for their Autumn Gala, which just happened to coincide with my birthday :D All taken with my D780 and Nikkor 28-300mm lens.

I just had to capture this first one. I thought that the welcoming sign was rather off-set by the dour look on the station master's face.

Here's a few from a recent woodland trip to hunt for Fungi. I was planning to do some woodland photography too but got side tracked with the fungi. All taken with a D7500 and the 85mm f.35 micro lens. I stupidly left the VR on for all the shots and also had no cable release so was using a 2 second delay timer. There is several more photo's on my FlickR feed.

As always happy to receive any constructive comments on how to improve.
