...for a minute or 2 - brown envelope from the DVLA! Not the one I was hoping for though - it's also time to renew the tax disk. :(

In the same post is the insurance renewal invitation - £314.45 which I don't think is extortionate given what it's for.

Almost had a heart attack as I was picking the post up - doorbell went with a nicer delivery - my new toy's arrived! A spanking 2nd hand V1 with the 10mm f/2.8. Looks brand new - not even a grubby fingerprint on the screen! Just need to download the English manual and see how to use it...

£315 quid for 2 Jags, not bad! Hopefully not much longer to wait bud!
But why have you ordered a ww2 rocket?

Your not the only one suffering from DVLA uselessness at the moment :( yes are the most incompetent bunch of useless idiots going, as soon as I've finally got my renewed licence I plan on going all Lynton on them

Well, the £315 is for mine (with her as named driver) but it does cover me to drive all other cars (3rd party). It's about £50 more than I used to pay on my old 1600 Picasso which was worth 1/10th what the XF's worth.

Always wanted a V1 - or the pulse jet motor from one! However, this one is very white and will accept my F mount lenses (with the adaptor I bought a few weeks ago.)

Without going off on a tangent here you may need to check the 3rd party cover as it will only usually cover you to drive other vehicles in an emergency situation.

I found this out when my car got stolen and I assumed I'd be OK to use my Dad's car and be covered by the 3rd party element on my insurance but it I was told that wasn't the case.

I did check before I signed on the dotted line (but thanks for the warning). I'm covered to drive anything not rented or hired to me (blah, blah, blah) with the owner's permission. Just checked with Mrs Nod and for hers (4l Petrol XK-8), she pays about £350. Again, only £50 or so more than her MX-5 1.8.

Depends on your opinion of old Triumphs! (4 wheeled.)

Yeah, that's the standard wording and what I thought too but there is sometimes more small print about the conditions of 3rd party use.

If you're happy your covered then fine but I genuinely thought I was covered too, it was only when I spoke them my insurer (Direct Line) they told me I wasn't.

At the end of the day we all know insurance companies will do their best to wriggle out of paying up when needed ;)

:) I may have played a little game of bumper cars :sulk:
About 13 years ago had 4 minor accidents in 6 months, nothing serious just the odd bump & scrape, all my fault :bonk: My insurance premium went for £300 to £1500 I think they hoped I would look elsewhere  I did

Hmm, mine couldn't be described as minor :suspect: roads were closed in two different counties, guess I better get shopping for a new policy come renewal time

When I wrote my Landy off a few years ago, it didn't make any difference to my premium, even when I changed companies (the original insurer paid me around 1/2 what my car was worth...). I did have NCB protection though.

I`m glad you are all excited Nod, I just hope you aint getting wet between the legs :D:p
