weekly aljazzera's 52 week challenge week 52 BUSY added

A Moorhen chick indeed Allan. I wouldn't worry about the bg, it's habitat. Nicely composed and the exposure is very good.

thank for the conformation not good on bird names, thanks for the nice comment

Beautifully framed - I do think we're all rather good at composition around here! Lovely little thing to shoot, too - look at those big feet compared to the tiny little head. Really rather adorable :) Nice work!

Thank you

Small and presumeably vulnerable! Very nice image there!
Thanks

Hi Allan, you have done well here, it can't of been easy photographing a dark subject and keep the detail in it! It certainly looks small - apart from its feet!!:lol:

Hey, you didn't take much time fretting over this weeks theme :D
Works well

Groan

Nice image Allan. Good thinking as well. Is that a reflection of another guitar head on the top right? There's nothing like having a choice of guitars to pick from (pun intended)

I love the small chick, looks small and vulnerable so fits nicely, straight is very good, especially the guitar reflected

Thanks for the nice comment, how long have you waited to get that pun out?

I can see a theme here  well done for noticing the other guitar.

Straight is well worked. Now I know it's straight and not Symmetry but I'd like it a bit more symmetrical...maybe just me

Cheers.

Hi Allan, sorry I've not dropped in for a while, been a little busy with work.

Joy, I get it! Dogs, horses, anything that is kept on a harness LOVES to be let loose! I love the action shot and angle. Although this could fit 'leave' as well!!!

Small, I think you've captured this chick perfectly. Like Michael says the background is his habitat and not much you can do about it, but I don't think it's an issue anyway. His little feet look HUGE compared to his body!

Straight, nice POV really leads your eye right up through the shot. I have taken an almost identical photo of a completely different subject:bonk:

I do see what you mean it was more difficult than i imagined :bang: this was the straightest I got, they were always slightly off.

Hi

Straight - good comp, nice colour , pov and dof. Good detail in the fret and like the reflections in the body. On theme
thanks

Nice shot for straight, good thinking.

For putting a smile on my face...you're forgiven.

Well composed and I rather like the central placement of the river.

Tad of the top and a colour boost maybe?

Cheers and a quick post

believe it or not i played around with this pic for ages, the day was very odd weather wise very overcast at times but bright sunshine in the distance. there is a bit much on the top I agree, but I do have another idea for this, and no its not the Wye valley.
Will see if I can get it done in the next few days.

Letter 2

letter by allanhowe, on Flickr

Another attempt at this don't really have the equipment to do this properly I know what i wanted but it didn't really work. I only had a l.e.d torch to light this this is the best i could do.

Quite like the simplicity of Letter...but isn't it Letters :D

I'd prefer just the one letter and either would do for me. I do like minimal photographs.

Just small hot spots but you mentioned having minimal gear.

Cheers.

Yep #2 for me as well, like the style but of course one letter too many :D

Hi Allan

Like your thinking on the 1st Letter image...., the river leads you nicely down to the open water & the great detail in the sky

2nd image....think the "a" would've worked well on it's own & like the lighting , good minimal image...could see it as as series using different letters or changing the color of the "a"

Top work mister

I keep looking for the rest of the head for some reason? Still a good shot and a nice dof to the image.

I don't understand why, given the theme is contrast if I put the rest of the head in i would then have some kind of back ground and the contrast between the stripes would be lost?

Saw it on my phone and was drawn to it. Nice and close, well composed and exposed, with nice detail.

I just keep getting drawn to the neck lower right. I had a quick crop but removing the neck really spoils it.

Cheers.

Very interesting theme option, works very well as it is IMO.

Fantastic Alan
I really like this and agree, cropping the head or including more of it isn't required IMHO. The eye is on a third and the composition is fine as it is. It is bang on theme, lovely detail in the eye, eyelash, and hair.
It is one that should be printed very large and hung on your wall. All round great work. Iain
