A very poignant take on the theme. We went to one of the WWI cemeteries in France a few years ago and it's really sobering to see so many graves and the ages of those who died. I'm not bothered about a couple of the graves being different and ,may even have been tempted to include more in the image.
 
Great great shot! It's a slight shame about the one headstone that's not the same shape as the others, on the right, but that's hardly your fault!

Works really well in B&W too. Maybe needs a touch more contrast so that the flowers etc don't fade into dark get so much, but other than that, spot on!

Abstract - liking both of them shots, great ideas, the cheese grater in no:1 if my fav, well lit and really liking the detail showing in the stainless steel !!!

Symmetry - That's a great image, bang on theme and really well composed, the PP really suits the shot too - Like it :thumbs:

Abstract, i sussed it was a cheese grater and really like that you've manage to pick the grain up in the metal, its that one for me.

Symmetry, they say a picture speaks a thousand words, and this one definately does, its bang on theme and very thought provoking and emotive, just like a good photograph ought to be

ah brilliant, love the bright colour in the flowers which brings the pic alive under such moody sky :clap:

Moody...yup , cracking sky , possibly a little to dark for me but then again moody is the theme...another great capture Allan :thumbs:
 
Northwich has a country park?!? My mum lives in Northwich :)

Nice sky shot, good contrast with the yellow flowers. One thing we have not been short of this week - moody skies!

Thank you the sky has been darkened in pp but I wanted the contrast with the dark sky and the bright buttercups

Comment catch up time for me Allan. :)

Abstract, the whisk one gets my vote bang on theme, a simple object made interesting by the pov and perspective. Maybe a tighter crop but nothing more.

Symmetry, makes a very striking and poignant photograph. The different headstone doesn't take anything away from the image, I think it adds to it, and the story behind it. It certainly tells a story and makes me think why is it different?
The mono conversion suits the subject too, maybe just a wee tweak in levels and contrast just to boost it a little but other than that :thumbs:

Moody, yes again bang on theme. I like the contrast between the moody sky and sunny yellow flowers. Well spotted, technically bang on too. Good work. Iain
 
That's a moody sky alright, very nicely done, and I like the contrast with the flowers.
 
Symmetry is just fantastic - love it.

Moody is a great shot too. For me the flowers look a little more contrast-y than the sky, but the more I look at it, the more I like the juxtaposition.
 
Hi Allan

Symmetry is very fitting for the theme. The flat stone on the right doesn't affect the shot as for me the symmetry is in the lay out of the grave stones. I'm always amazed that following a time of such devastation and death someone somewhere had to measure out the graves of so many young men to have such perfect spacing and alignment!

Moody, a very ominous sky indeed. Although I feel just a little too dark:thinking: Great composition though, I like how the bushes breaks the shot up and the buttercups do stand out nice and bright against the sky.

Really don't like this subject very uninspiring have tried a few ideas but they are really not working. So I am going to cheat in a way as this was taken a couple of weeks ago, Holly loves to run when she is let of her lead you can see the joy she is feeling.

Joy: Great shot, but I'd like to see her running into to the camera.

Joy - certainly fits the theme to a 't'. Good feeling of motion with both the dogs legs and the water splashes. Like Robert, i feel that the only niggle to it being perfect is the dog running away rather than towards the camera.

nevertheless an impressive shot for Joy
 
I'm afraid I agree with the above. Yes you've caught the action well but seeing the front end of the dog would have improved things. You can't always get them to do exactly what you say - well at least we can't with our spaniels :lol:

I do agree, sort of, in what you all say but to me it was about the moment of joy for the dog when she is let off the lead, thats what I see. I do have pictures of her running towards me, but to me that is her playing not the initial joy of being released.

I understand where you are coming from Allan. I sometimes feel I see more of the back end of our dogs than the front. They really can't wait to run off and enjoy themselves.
 
I don't mind the direction but the splash in the foreground looks like it has motion blur - yeah I know it's moving, but it doesn't seem to match the lack of motion in your dog - if you see what I mean lol

It's so good to see them enjoy themselves dogs are so restricted these days.

Took a few of this a Moorhen? chick I am sure someone will put me right there. It was very small though there is nothing to get the scale and the bg is quite poor but for now it will do, wanted a pic of some minature monkeys but the little **** were too quick and had a habit of turning thier back to you :(
 
Beautifully framed - I do think we're all rather good at composition around here! Lovely little thing to shoot, too - look at those big feet compared to the tiny little head. Really rather adorable :) Nice work!
