We've had an Alexa and Echo Dot now for about a month. Thursday night last week, wifey and I were talking about a kitchen re-furb. the nextday, 3 e-mails with kitchen offers in my inbox and a brochure through the door 2 days later.


Maybe this smart technology is smarter than we think.

Alexa is now banished from the bedroom. :LOL:
 
I was working as an Estate Agent viewing guide until recently, visited one house with Alexa, very worried it was listening and recording me.
Apparently in the States a news caster was talking about the device and as soon as the name was mentioned thousands of them "woke up", scary.

We are living in crazy times. I hope I don't need to remind you that your Apple or Google smartphone and you Samsung TV are also listening to your every word, which is publicly admitted in mainstream press by the way if some trendy wants to dispute.

This would explain why my other half received several ads for conservatories after we had been talking about them, we though it was an uncanny coincidence. :eek: Alexa or Samsung tv? This freaks me out. :exit:

Thinking about what you said, I wonder if discussing bomb making would see your front door being kicked in by the ARU?

Depends I guess; there is one to find out for sure. Probably it will get you surveilled much more closely for a while?
One time a radio ad came up for funeral service and the Google Maps immediately suggested I go to the one of the nearby funeral directors. That was very creepy to say the least.

Quite a few years ago I knew a bloke that worked in the Govt. Never told us exactly what he did, but he mentioned `trigger words` that were picked up on & monitored. :cautious: (It was around the end of the IRA bombing era)
