Hi
Have any of you tried the Aldi printing service ?
Did you use the automatic image correction ?
They recomend RGB I used sRGB would this make a difference ?

I've just got a 3 lots of prints back from Aldi and some of them the colour balance is not right there is a yellow cast. Shame really as the ones that are right are excellent really sharp :)
It may well be that I have got the colours wrong myself
should I be using the Aldi automatic image correction ?
The first shot here I also had done at togsprint a while ago and it was perfect but it may be that he corrected the colours before printing

here's a few examples :)

have you compared the prints to the screen. How close is the match? If the yellow cast is constant, it may be a simple case of making a small adjustment to the prints before sending them for printing.

I sent a batch of photos to them recently.

All my 6x4 prints were spot on but I wanted a couple at 8x12, these came back with the colour slightly off.

They were all taken with the same camera, exported from Lightroom using the same settings and were all in sRGB.

I assumed that maybe the larger prints were done on a different printer which maybe wasn't calibrated the same.

No big deal I just print my larger ones at home now.

Its a great service by the way, I often upload my pictures from work at lunch time and I have them on my doorstep the next day.

Only had photo books from Aldi they all looked good to me Oh also had a large poster from them it was very good. Nice Pics by the way

hi there i used Aldiphoto printing and found them very good i had 6 pics done 12x8 and i am very happy with them

Had about 90 12x8 done at 0.34p each. sRGB, no correction. Excellent prints, as per my screen. I think home photo printing is just about dead.

Thanks for the replies :)
I have compared the prints to the ones on the computer screen and the colours were off on some of the larger ones (18 by 12)
I have emailed their customer services.
I will try a couple of prints again though and adjust the colour balance to compensate.
Will also try a couple with their automatic correction.
The ones that were right were very good and they are cheap enough to get quite a lot printed :)

I had some A4 size prints delivered today. They were a mixture of babt B&W's which were very good. However on a colour family group shot the skin tones were shall we say looked terracotta !!

what profile would i use for aldi as they dont give a download for this ?

I had sent them through as Srgb.

Now the only thing that i think I did wrong was to have their Image optimisation as selected !!

I have sent the images again for another test run with Image optimisation disabled.

I'll post my comments on the results for this thread.

FYI: "The Gadget Show" did a comparison of online digital printers and Aldi came out pretty low. The best for consistency and value was Snapfish. The best was One Vision Imaging.

i watched that episode and i was amazed with the results, snapfish is the best however if you can afford it or doing it for business then onevision is top

One Vision are top, especially if you can pop in, they're always really friendly and helpful in there.
